It was a cold night in Berlin and you were invited to Ludwig's Birthday Party. Gilbert had told you all about how Ludwig refused to conduct it, claiming that he was a grown man and he didn't have time for such things. Gilbert coaxed him anyway, resulting in his brother finally agreeing.
Remembering the same conversation, you smiled as you walked the streets with a gift in hand for Ludwig. There were not going to be so many people, much to Gilbert's dismay, but at least there was a party,
Shivering slightly, you hurried, worrying about being late. In a few minutes, you stood in front of their door and rung the bell. No sooner you did, you heard loud stomps. The door opened and you found Gilbert, with all smiles on his face.
"Welcome home!" He pulled you in a tight hug.
"But this isn't my home..." you tried to push him away.
"Don't worry," He whispered and winked, "When you marry Lud, this will be your home."
"What?" You blushed and he let you go, loudly laughing. Gilbert knew very well how much you liked Ludwig and often teased you about it (of course, he doesn't do it in front of everyone).
"Bruder!" Ludwig sighed heavily at his brother's jokes, now that he had come to receive you.
"Okay, geez." Gilbert laughed again and let you come in, "Hurry up and come inside. It's freezing!"
You walked inside and removed your coat and boots. It was nice and warm, which made you sigh happily. The living room had a couple of guests, apparently your host's friends. There were a fair amount of men and a handful of women.
In no time, the party started. Gilbert was doing a great job as an MC, cracking jokes and puns. Everyone was having fun dancing, singing and eating. While that was going on, you watched everyone do their thing and talk to each other.
You were out in the patio, all by yourself, helping yourself to a rather large slice of the cake which Gilbert secretly gave you. Savoring its wonderful sweetness, you sighed to yourself,
"I wish I could have more..."
"You can have more if you want." A deep voice interrupted your little talk with yourself. You turned around to find Ludwig there with two bottles of beer.
"Oh, it's just you, Lud." You continued eating your cake peacefully, "If it was someone else, they'd probably think I am weird."
"It's a pity you didn't notice it." He took a sip of his beer and handed you the other open beer bottle.
"What do you mean by that?" You asked, accepting the bottle and taking a little sip, only to get into a fit of coughing.
"Your weirdness is your charm point, in my opinion." He mumbled, taking a rather large sip this time. You blushed a little and smiled.
"Thanks."
"No problem." He smiled. Both of you continued drinking in silence for a while. After a minute, you decided to ask a question,
"Ludwig, why were you so against having a birthday party?"
"I honestly think it is strange for an adult like me to have such an event. It's not like I hate it, but it seems childish." He answered, "Besides, I don't see why getting older should be celebrated."
"I understand your reason, but if I were you, I would have a birthday party for myself and invite people because it gives me an excuse to be a child again, eat a ton of cake, hang out with friends and have fun." You smiled.
"Have fun, huh?" He looked at the beer bottle he had in hand and drowned it all down in one sip, much to your surprise.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt to get totally drunk today, wouldn't it?" He asked, cheeks now a little pink. He shook his head vigorously and sighed.
