Sarah and Leona have been gone for quite a while. They went to Galway to see if they can rescue a horse. This is exciting. Another friend! I jump around in my stable. I prance about like a yearling. I'm excited and hungry. Really hungry. Sean should be doing the yardwork and 'horse-sitting'. I wait impatiently in my stable. We all do. Glic neighs and kicks her stable door. Sir does too. I kick mine too. I'm starving. ''I guess food is delayed this morning''. Glic says grumpily. Glic is grumpy when no food is given to her. Food is life to her. ''Yeah! Where's the other blonde lad! I'm starving!''. He says. I nod my head in agreement. My stomach screams at me. I paw the ground. This is getting annoying. We wait for another long ten minutes and finally food comes. It's Amanda. She has been doing 'work' in the yard. In other words, she is worrying about her nails and hair. She is also scared of horse dung. She will scream at it. She also shows Millie, their pet dog, hate. Poor Millie is confused. Amanda also makes compliments about Bella's, their other dog's, smell. It is really disturbing. I don't like the site of it. Amanda also thinks that Sir is me! She calls him Scooter! It's so funny! Sir takes it serious though. He pins his ears back when she walks near him. ''Stupid blonde!''. Sir says angrily, as Amanda grooms him and calls him a 'good girl'. We all start to laugh. Glic falls over and Cara is in tears.

Later Sean comes out. He leads us all out to the field. Well, he just let us run loose into the field. He opened our stable doors and we legged it out of the barn. Sir ran the legs off of himself, to get away from Amanda though. We do look alike. He has a white star. It's not a perfect one though. Mine is a perfect star. He has a darker bay coat than me. I have quite a light coat. We all race around the field. We settle down after a few minutes and start to graze. We all see Amanda standing at the gate. She has a headcollar. ''Scooter!''. She calls. We all look up. We see that Amanda is staring at Sir. Sammy falls to ground laughing. Amanda makes kissing noises. ''Come here girly! Come on sweetie!''. She says in a high pitched voice. Cara laughs her head off. Sir looks at us grumpily. ''Hey Scooter! Amanda is looking for you!''. I say in between laughs. I fall to the ground. Sir gives me a death stare. I smirk at him. He walks over to Amanda lazily. She takes him in. I guess he is going to get prettied up. We all look at each other and laugh. We continue our grazing. Cara though, looks over at the stables. She wears a worried expression. I start to worry too.

The market is full of horses. All different types of breeds. From cobs to thoroughbreds. Irish draughts to connemaras. We look at the Irish draughts. Leona wants a dressage horse and showjumper. She needs a horse that is sensitive and a beautiful mover for dressage. She also needs a horse with power for jumping. Irish draughts are perfect for it. We look around but all the men here are drunks who need money. The horses are not treated nice. Most of the horses here need to be put down. They are all in critical condition. The poor horses. They are so beautiful. They are just not treated like humans. Leona shakes her head. She is thinking the exact same thing. We walk away from the Irish draughts and we walk to the auction ring. We take a seat. We both look at all the horses. We study them carefully. Most of them are in serious danger. I shake my head in annoyance. ''Terrible''. I say quietly. Leona nods. We look at the dapple grey breeds as they race around the ring in fear. Leona doesn't seem to like them. I take out my phone. We have about an hour. We need to find a horse now if we want to leave with something. I hear Leona gasp. I look up and her face lit up. I looked over at the ring. The horse that was standing in the ring was really pretty. A beautiful mare. The sweet look of her eyes. She is a piebald. She is as white as snow and the black spots bounce at you. She moves smoothly. She has power in her back end. She prances in fright. I see Leona's face. She likes the mare. I do too. ''1000 euros!''. I shout. I start the bid. The auctioneer starts talk into his microphone. ''Have we got 1100 euros!''. He shouts. A man raises his hand. I look at him with fury. I look at Leona. She looks at me pleadingly. I nod my head. ''1500 euros!''. I shout. The man shakes his head and smiles. He raises the bid to 1800 euros. I look at Leona and smile. I look at the mare who is frightened by the noise. This is the last of the money we've got. I raise my hand. ''2500 euros!''. I shout. The man shakes his head. ''Am I going to get any higher! 3000 euros anybody! Going once! Going twice! Sold to the blonde girl and her friend!''. The auctioneer shouts. Leona looks at me. She smiles and gives me a hug. I stare at the mare and think of all those times I didn't get Leona a present. We pay for the mare and she seems to connect to Leona immediately. I pet her as Leona gives her a brush. She has beautiful eyes. Innocent. Pure. Friendly. I give the mare a kiss. ''Soul. I want to call her Soul''. Leona says to me. I smile at that. I nod my head and agree. I hear my phone ringing. I look at who's calling. It's Sean. I pick up. ''How are ya!''. I say. ''No time Sarah! It's Leona's horse. The big bay. He's........hurt badly. Broken leg I think! Please come home! I'll tell you everything!''. I hang up. Leona looks at my face. I look at her. I feel tears swell in my eyes. ''Get Soul in the truck!''. I order. ''Sarah, what's going on?''. She asks. I don't answer. We load the mare and I take the drivers seat. Leona hops in a sees the tears falling down my face. ''It's okay Sarah. I know it's hard to come here every year. Just like you did with your mother''. She says with a hand on my shoulder. I look up at her. ''I'm so sorry. Your big bay. He broke his leg''. I say. I see tears swell in Leona's eyes. I start the truck. Leona closes her eyes and falls asleep crying. I wipe my tears. I need to know what happened. I can fix him. My mother could if she were alive. The only thing is that she is dead. A man starts flashing his headlights at me. I flash mine back at him. ''I can do that too!''. I shout. I feel the tears fall down my face. If only she were alive, she would help the gelding. He is Leona's life. She doesn't talk much about him. I see Leona's face is red from crying. I shake my head. I sigh. This is terrible.
