The boat ride didn't take that long. Just a couple of hours. I slept throughout the whole thing. I let the rocking of the boat put me to a deep sleep. We landed off of the coast of England. It was really sunny and warm compared to Ireland. Not a cloud to be seen. I looked out the tiny window of the horse truck. I could see the docks and nothing else. I heard Sarah saying that we will be landing in the city of England. We will then make our way to a little stud and stay a couple of nights there. Sarah couldn't afford a stall for me at Aintree. We haven't got the money. Sarah used the remainder of the money for a stall in a stud and to enter into the races. She made a wise choice. The stalls in Aintree cost a good few pounds. Sarah didn't also want to exchange a lot of her euros to pounds anyways. I feel the truck pick up some speed. I doze off again.
I look out the little window. I see a city. It's really big. I see a lot of cars and taxis. I see a big tall brick tower. It is massive! At the top of the tower is a clock. I have never seen a clock so big in my life! This place is amazing! I see police horses. They have very well dressed policemen mounted on their back. The horses trot on the road in an even beat. Their hooves clashing with the ground together. The have their head arched. The policemen sit lightly and keep an eye out for crime. That's what Glic used to do. She used to rule the streets. I feel sick when I think of Glic. I miss her. I miss Sammy. I miss Cara. I miss everyone. We pass the horses. I let out a low neigh. The horses prick their ears but don't neigh back. They keep trotting with their head arched. The policemen didn't even look my way. These policemen and horses are very well trained. We keep on going through the city. We pass more big buildings. We pass through the countryside. I loves every bit of it. I got new scents and a new breeze on my face. I love travelling!
We reach our destination. I see a sign as we pull up outside the gates of the stud. Sandy Oaks Stud. Nice name. We drive through the gates and up the driveway. It is about 200 metres long. There are two fields on either side of the driveway. It is full of mares and foals. They all see me and start to gallop beside the fence. They buck and neigh. I join in. I neigh thanking for their greeting. The foals give really high-pitched neighs. They race as fast as they can to keep up with their mothers, who are trotting beside the fence. It's really funny to watch. We come to a stop and I hear Sarah and Leona hop out of the truck. They pull down the ramp and Sarah grabs my halter and leadrope. She leads mw down the ramp slowly and carefully. I come to a stop when I hit the ground. I stand tall. My head high and neck tense. I look around, hearing the new sounds and my nostrils flare as I take in the new country scent. I take a deep breath and snort. Sarah pats my tense neck. ''Good girl''. She says. Leona pats my neck too. ''Nice place you picked Leona!''. Sarah says happily. ''Thanks! It was the cheapest and don't worry I got your dad to go and pay the owner''. Leona explains. So Leona picked this place for Sarah. ''Welcome!''. A woman says. We all turn our heads around to find a middle aged woman walking towards us. She is tall and slim. She has brown hair and hazel-nut eyes. ''My name is Elizabeth! Welcome to Sandy Oaks Stud! Thanks for coming. We have a stall ready for your mare!''. The woman says cheerfully. I'm not sure if I like her yet. The woman looks at me. She has a soft look. ''Who is this beautiful young lady?''. The woman says. ''This is Scooter''. Sarah says. I look at the woman cautiously. She walks quietly up to me. She goes to pet my face. She rubs my nose gently. I'm still not sure if I like this woman. I see at the corner of my eye, she takes out a piece of an apple. I scoop it up gently with my lips. Okay. I think I'm starting to like this woman. She pats me. ''Clever mare! You can bring her to the field with the mares and foals'', she says. Sarah and Leona walk with me to the field while Elizabeth and Sarah's dad talk. Leona opens the gate and Sarah unclips the lead. The two girls are locked into a conversation about the yard. I canter out into the field. I buck and squeal letting all of my energy out. That's the worst thing about travelling. Standing for a good few hours. I gallop around the field for a good few minutes. The mares and foals playing too. I stop immediately. I have a roll in the tall green grass. I stand up and look around the place. ''Hello there darling'', a cherry-bay mare says. She has black mane too with a white snip. Her little palomino foal trailing behind her. ''Hi!''. I say shyly. ''My name is Rose. This is Sally''. The mare says with a weird accent. A really weird accent. ''Hi Rose, Sally. My name is Scooter. Lovely to meet you''. I say. I don't feel that shy anymore. I like this mare. Sally the foal looks at me scared. I look at her kindly. ''Hi Sally. I won't hurt you. Trust me. You are a beautiful young girl. I wish I had your looks''. I say with a kind and quiet tone. The foal looks at me. She walks from being behind her mother to standing beside her mother facing me. She looks at my face especially my star. ''Your star is a perfect shape. That's odd. Were you born with it?''. The foal asks. I smile. ''Yep. I was born with it''. I answer. The foal smiles at me. ''I think you are beautiful too''. The foal says with a laugh. I laugh too. Her mother and I talk about why I am here and that I am saving my owners stud. She was really interested. I see a racetrack and Rose tells me that this place is a racing farm too. She said she heard her owner saying something about letting Sarah and I train in it! I can't wait. I play with the two horses until Sarah and Leona take me in for the night.
