My Mythical Best and My Mythical Worst

Or You're Fired

     I enjoyed working for Rhett and Link. Rhett was like an older brother to me, and Link, well, I'm not sure how I felt about Link. I enjoy his company, and he is funny and cute, but I'm not ready for a relationship. I know that's what he wants but I'm not so sure that's what I want, and I should worry about me, myself, and I right now, right?

     I walk into the studio three minutes late and headed straight to my desk. I sit at a desk across from Mike and Alex and next to Lizzie. All of the desks were set up in groups of four. "Good morning." I say to all three of them as I sit down. "Hey." Mike replies. Alex nods "Sup?" and smiles at me. "Can you go get some pine nuts, chili peppers, oysters, chocolate, and bananas." She stopped for a moment and thought. "Let's go ahead and get whipped cream. We may not use it in the main episode but it's good to have it." She stopped again. "For us." She said skeptically and stretched the for. She started laughing and Mike did too. "What do you mean, us?" He laughed. Alex and I joined in the laughter.

     I went to the store and strolled through the aisles, picking up a few things here and there. Ring! Ring! My phone went off loudly. I picked it up.

     "Hello?"

     "Hey Jade. It's Lizzie. We need some coffee. Link is dying." She said and laughed a bit. There was a soft groan of agony in the background noise. I figured it was Link.

     I laughed "Of course he does. Alright. I'll be back in ten minutes. Bye."

      "Alright. Bye."

     I continued my shopping and grabbed the coffee for Link, then left.

     I pushed the door of the studio open with my butt and almost dropped everything in my hands. I had about thirteen bags and one in my mouth. I hurriedly started walking towards the kitchen to put things away when someone grabbed all of the bags from one hand making me have six left and the one in my mouth. I took it out and turned to see Link. I smiled and said "Thanks, Link."

     We got to the kitchen and Lizzie was in there looking in the cupboards for something. "What are you looking for?" I asked. "This!" She exclaimed holding her prize for us to see. It was a box of cereal. I nodded and started pulling things out of the bags from the store. The things for today's episode went to the left and everything else went to the cupboards or fridge.

     Link was still in the kitchen helping take care of stuff while I made coffee for him. "Hey, Jade?" He said. I stopped and looked at him "yeah?" I said and went back to making coffee. I was dumping water into the top when he said "I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to go out to dinner with me tomorrow night?"

     I nearly dropped the coffee pot but managed not to and put it down. I looked at him like he was crazy. I didn't know what to say. My body responded the same way it did last time he tried to make a move. I started crying and ran away. I went straight to the bathroom.

     There was knocking on the door and Kevin said "Jade! Are you alright?" I got up and opened it. He looked at me with a concerned look on his face. "Are you alright?" I nodded and he opened his arms to hug me. I gladly accepted as Link was walking by.

     "How long was I in there?" I asked as Link stopped to stare at Kevin and me. "Twenty minutes." He said and rubbed my back a little. Link was just standing there starting at us when Rhett walked up and started talking to him. Link engaged in the conversation while still maintaining his eyes on Kevin and me, and we're were just talking now.

     "I got to go help Lizzie get the food prepared for today's video. Thanks, Kev." I said and started walking away. Link stopped his conversation with Rhett as I walked by and started walking next to me. "I'm sorry." He said. "I didn't mean to make you cry." He watched his feet as we walked. "It's alright. I would love to have dinner with you Link, but just as friends for now." I said and he looked up at me with a big grin on his face. "Here's a proposal, not literally, but I uhh- yeah." He laughed. "We call it a date to try it and if we don't like it then it's just as friends but if we do then it's a date." He winked and added "or you're fired." And laughed.
