My Mythical Best and My Mythical Worst

Shouldn't Have Asked

     Jaden and I were sitting on the couch together watching a show she put on called Impractical Jokers (literally one of my favorite shows!!!). It's about these four best friends who do stupid stuff in public. It was actually pretty funny. 

     It was the next day and she had woken up at my house that morning. I was going to try and talk to her today. As if on cue with my thoughts a commercial came on and I thought about what to say. Suddenly it just came out "why don't you ever talk about anything with me?" She moved away from me a little. "What do you mean?" She asked obviously confused. I looked down and said "nevermind." 

     "No, Link. What do you mean?" She said demandingly. 

     "I just mean about your past." I looked up at her, "Like your home. I don't know anything about your family, or your life. All I know is the here and now." I looked down feeling guilty. 

     "Well," she said obviously getting a little angry, "for one, you never ask me about any of it, and two all that matters is her and now. Me and you. My past doesn't matter." 

     I got a little angry myself and said "Well, now I am asking you." 

     She stood up and said "I don't have to tell you anything." 

     "You just insinuated that if I had asked you then you would have told me!" I screamed and stood up to, "and now I'm asked you because I want to know why you are so scared of falling in love, and sometimes you flinch when I touch you! What's up with that?!?" I screamed. 

     "I may have said if you asked previously, and right now is not previous. Why can't you just wait to let me be comfortable to share those things with you? Why are you being so pushy?!?" She screamed right back. 

      The anger was boiling at my surface. I screamed "there's no better time than the present to share that stupid shit with me!!! I shared all of my past with you! Why can't you do the same?!? Isn't that fair? I think it is, and if you don't then I think you should leave and call me when you're comfortable talking about whatever it is that happened to make you afraid of me touching you, because I can't be with someone who I can't touch without them flinching!!!!!!" It all tumbled out and I had no control of it at this point. 

     As soon as the part about her leaving came out a tear slipped down her face. "Are you breaking up with me, Link?" She asked. 

     I nodded with regret covering my face. "Our relationship will continue over strictly business. Nothing else." 

     She nodded and walked toward the door, with her head hanging low. "Alright. I will see you on Monday, boss." She said and walked out of the door, tears already staining her face.

***Jaden*** (this will be the same thing from her point of view)

     I snuggled into Link a little watching Q explain puberty to his parents as a punishment for being the big loser. I laughed a little when the commercial came on. "Why don't you ever talk to me about anything?" Link asked kind of in a panicked tumbled out jumble. "What do you mean?" I asked in reply because I really didn't quite understand what he was talking about. He looked away from me and said "nevermind" and he fiddled with his fingers in his lap. 

     "No, Link. What do you mean?" I asked because I was still confused and a little angry that he wouldn't tell me.  

     "I just mean about your past." he looked up at me, "Like your home. I don't know anything about your family, or your life. All I know is the here and now." and looked back down.

     I was bewildered by the statement. "Well, for one, you never ask me about any of it, and two all that matters is her and now. Me and you. My past doesn't matter."

     I wasn't necessarily angry, just surprised. I could tell that he was now angry when he said "Well, now I'm asking you." He raised his voice slightly.

     "I don't have to tell you anything." I said, because I didn't. 

      "You just insinuated that if I had asked you then you would have told me!" I screamed and stood up to, "and now I'm asked you because I want to know why you are so scared of falling in love, and sometimes you flinch when I touch you! What's up with that?!?" he said now screaming.

     "I may have said if you asked previously, and right now is not previous. Why can't you just wait to let me be comfortable to share those things with you? Why are you being so pushy?!?" I raised my voice too because I was now angry.

     He was clearly very upset and angry because his face was red, as he screamed "there's no better time than the present to share that stupid shit with me!!! I shared all of my past with you! Why can't you do the same?!? Isn't that fair? I think it is, and if you don't then I think you should leave and call me when you're comfortable talking about whatever it is that happened to make you afraid of me touching you, because I can't be with someone who I can't touch without them flinching!!!!!!"

     All I really heard from that was "I think you should leave" and I started crying. I choked up some words, "are you breaking up with me, Link?" 

     "Our relationship will continue over strictly business." I was silently crying as I opened the door and said "Alright. I will see you on Monday," I paused, "boss." I finished and walked home.
