***Link***
I walked into the coffee shop where Jaden and I went on our first "date". Christy wasn't there yet, but I was about fifteen minutes early. I walked up to the counter and the barista asked what I wanted I ordered the same thing as usual and sat in a booth. I chose the most excluded booth in the corner of the shop where not many people would be able to see us.
I saw Christy come through the door and she smiled and waved at me. She went to the counter and ordered something and came over and sat down. "So, Link, how's life been?" She smiled smugly as if she'd been thinking My life sucked without her.
"Well, it's been ok, actually," I smiled and added, "I have a girlfriend and amazing friends who helped me through the divorce and I'm better now." I nodded my head and took a sip of my caramel latte. Her face fell at the divorce part which made me feel really bad about trying to rub in that I had a girlfriend and had moved on. She obviously had not done so. "What about you?"
She smiled and said excitedly "I got a new job on the other side of town. It's telemarketing. It pays really well and is super flexible with my schedule." Nobody said anything for a moment and she added "I've really changed and gotten back on my feet."
"Wow. That's really great, Christy." I said and reached over and grabbed her hand. It was meaning less to me but I saw in her eyes she was feeling deprived of me. It was like looking into her soul and seeing it withered and crying because she wanted me back. I felt so bad for her and thought for that maybe she had changed.
She smiled at me like she did when we were together and happy. A tear rolled down her face and she sniffled a little. I got up and went around the table and wrapped my arms around her tightly and rubbed her back and played with her hair. She always loved it when I would play with her hair. She pulled away from the hug and looked me in the eyes.
She slowly leaned in and planted a soft kiss on my cheek. "I'm ok, Link." She said softly and I rubbed her arm. "Yeah, I knew you would be." I said and hugged her again. "You were always stronger than me." I said into her hair. We stopped hugging and had awkward eye contact again and I felt her familiar lips brush against mine and I gave into her wants.
***Jaden***
I was watching a movie when my phone rang and I smiled assuming it was Link to tell me about his meeting with Christy. I had began to get worried about him because he was gone for quite some time. I answered the phone and said, "Hey babe, how are you?" When the voice on the other side spoke I knew it was not Link.
"Jaden? It's Jack." I froze.
"What do you want?" I paused, "and how did you get my number?"
"I just want to talk. That's it. I don't want to hurt you. I'm sorry about what I did and I miss you baby. Please come back to me. I'm a mess without you. You're my one and only. We were meant to be. You've got to believe me. I swear I've changed." He said sounding like a mess.
"I don't want to talk to you. You've lost your chance. I'm happy now. I don't need you in my life. Don't call me again." I said and hung up as he began to talk. I set my phone down and it rang again. It was Jack. I pressed ignore and turned off my sound.
The door opened and I jumped. Link was home. I sighed in relief and got up to greet him. "Hey, honey. How was your talk with Christy?" I tried to hug him but he pushed me off. "Link?" I said gaining concern. He doesn't act like this unless her doesn't want to tell me something.
