Chapter 9: New Year Party

After ten days:

So finally the exams are over. How am I supposed to forget that how much hard work I did to score good marks for my first semester examinations? I had to wake up all night to revise all the little bits of the chapters and of course those irritating formulae. I think I will score according to my expectations.

Mom used to prepare coffee for me so that I don't feel drowsy. She knew I started preparing late for the exams that's why I had to wake up late at night. If I would have started studying earlier, I might not have to stay awake so late at night.

I come out of my classroom and find that Shikha is already out. She was in the other room on fourth floor and I was on the second floor. As she see me, she immediately comes towards me. This is clear that she is immensely happy. And so I am.

Obviously after that Vaibhav-Vivan canteen incident, I had to take so long to console her. She was really upset. I had to convince her to forget what has happened and just accept the fact that Vaibhav has no feelings for her. I knew she was hurt. But the way she stood back up, I must say she is really a strong girl.

Now I think she is trying her best to avoid Vaibhav as much as she can. She doesn't want to get hurt. I mean who would like to get hurt again and again?

"Aditi why you take so long to write papers? I have been waiting for you from past thirty minutes!" she complains and narrows both her eyebrows.

"Oh I was still writing and cross checking the paper" I tell her and ask "How was the paper?".

"Yes it was good. I am sure I will pass in this semester" she replies and we both laugh.

"Okay. Now let's go to the can.." I was about to say when I trail off.

I cannot go to canteen with Shikha. What if she again starts to remember about the incident? And what if she finds Vaibhav there? No.

From the past ten days, we were so busy in studying that we didn't find time to go to the canteen or see anyone. So I cannot take the risk. She is very happy right now because the exams are finally over and I cannot spoil her mood in anyway. Aditi be careful!

"Canteen?" she asks with a little smirk.

Why is she giving me that smirk?

"N-No. I-I mean let's just go out and have an ice cream. What say?" I stutter and quickly wipe off the sweat with my handkerchief that I didn't know was coming out of my forehead.

"No. We will go to the canteen only. And Aditi, I am absolutely fine now. You don't need to worry about me so much. I will not get upset anymore because of that incident" she commands and caresses me with a smile.

"Promise?" I enquire with a nervous smile.

"Promise." she nods and we go out to the canteen.

Of course you cannot stop doing what you do on daily basis after only one incident. And this will be so kiddish to stop going to canteen just because of that. And the fight was not even that big to make an issue of it. Shikha had no role in the fight and nor the fight occurred because of her.

So we enter inside the cafeteria and quickly take up a table for two of us. Shikha goes to the canteen to place order for both of us. I tell her to bring Chicken Burger and a coke, definitely after checking if I have enough money to buy and eat that.

Basically I was not eating anything in the canteen from the past ten days to save some money. Yes, I save money!

"Hi Aditi!" greets a familiar male voice from behind me. I know this voice and turn around to greet him too.
