Chapter 26: Car Accident

I place my order of a cheese sandwich at the counter and take a seat in front of Shikha in the canteen after attending my three lectures before this break. She raises her eyes towards me and asks "You have more lectures after this break?".

"Yeah. One lecture" I answer.

"Of what?" she asks.

"English. I am thinking of not attending it" I reply.

"Okay!" she says.

"Why? Do you have lectures?" I ask. "No" she replies.

She then begins to make unusual expressions. She is looking up and down, here and there. She then presses her lips out of anxiety or maybe eagerness. Why is she behaving this way?

"Shikha, are you okay?" I ask her.

She then suddenly looks at me out of shock as if I asked something wrong. Maybe I broke her trail of thoughts. But seriously, what was she doing? She pauses for a second and replies "Y-Yes. I am good".

No you are not. "Are you hiding something from me?" I ask while scrunching my eyebrows at her.

"Wh-What? N-No" she replies and takes her eyes off me. Now I am sure that she is definitely trying to hide something from me. But what could that be? "You are sure you don't want to tell me anything?" I ask her.

She shakes her head in disagreement. Okay. If that's what she wants. She doesn't want to tell me then who am I to force her? So I simply shrug at her response.

I then stand up to collect my order from the canteen. Before long, I begin to return back to my place while holding the cheese sandwich tray on my hand when I find Aarya talking something with Shikha.

What is that b*tch saying to my best friend? I immediately walk towards them and bang my tray on the table. They quickly lift their faces up to see me. Aarya gives me a wicked look and Shikha looks at me out of shock.

Aarya then turns towards Shikha with a fake smiling face and says "Okay Shikha. I hope you understood of what I said. You better do it or else...". Shikha nods to her words and Aarya stands up and leaves.

I see her going and quickly sit on the chair where she was sitting. I see Shikha, looking completely nervous. What in the world has made her behaving this way today? Is this because of Aarya? Maybe yes.

"What was she saying?" I ask her. She lifts her face up to look at me for a second and hangs her head down. She didn't reply to what I asked.

"Shikha, I am talking to you. What did Aarya say to you?" I repeat the question again.

"Aditi, I want to tell you something" she speaks worriedly. Finally!

"Yes please. Tell me" I tell her. I was waiting for this only.

"Aa-Aarya has been frightening me from past one week" she nervously says.

"What? And you are telling this to me today?" I ask her. This is definitely a part of Aarya's new plan.

"I am sorry" she frowns.

"It's okay. Tell me why is she frightening you?" I ask her.

"She is saying that I will have to create a negative image of you in Daksh's mind so that he begins to hate you" she answers. Tears start forming inside her eyes.

Aarya is such a cunning person. She knows even if we have broken up, Daksh has not entirely given up on me and this is making her jealous. He doesn't even look at her.

"Why only you have to create?" I ask in suspicion.

"Because I am your best friend. And if I will say something about you, there are chances that he might believe" she explains.
