Chapter sixteen: Jasiri saves Nala

Caroline's POV
I haven't noticed it before, but I heard a rumbling noise, followed by a scream for help. Simba's head twisted and he yowled, " Nala!" I was paralyzed. This sounded like a job for the Lion Guard.

I jumped up. " Sorry Timon, Pumbaa. We have a matter to address," Simba said. Simba whisked me away.

" It's ok! Save your wife or whatever!" Timon said. " Yah! The queen must be saved!" Pumbaa encouraged. By then, I was racing. " Hurry! What do you smell, Caroline?" Simba asked me. I stuck my nose up in the air.

I took a deep snuff or sniff of air. I smelled rocks and Nala. " Nala is trapped under some rocks!" I informed him. We got there, and Nala was helplessly lying there.

" Help!" I heard her call. " We're here!" I said. Nala looked relieved. I then heard another rumble, with a shout of," Look out!" Twisting my head, I saw rocks tumbling down at me and Simba. I ended up pushing the king out of the way, but I was trapped under the rock now.

I grunted as I tried to get up. No such luck. " I'll go get the lion guard!" Simba said. Suddenly, a purplish pelt shadow came out of the big darkness. " Don't worry King! I've got this!" Jasiri's voice rang out. Simba turned.

" Why, you're that hyena who saved Caroline from Janja," Simba greeted. " Yes. And I'm here now to save your wife!" Jasiri said. " But you are a hyena, what could you do to get them out of those rocks?" Simba asked.

" Sisi ni sawa. I can lift the rocks," Jasiri said. She looked at me. " Well, human. Got yourself in quite a situation!" Jasiri laughed. " Can you get us out, Jasiri?" I asked. " Why sure! Just give me a minute," she grunted as she started to lift the heavy rocks. She yelped as one landed on her paw. Nala almost giggled at that.

Lifting the rocks one or two at a time, she finally saved us. " Thanks," I said. " You're welcome," she gracefully said. " I thank you, good hyena," Nala purred. " My pleasure, queen," Jasiri said. Then, we all went back for some quiet time.
