The day following the death of the many people on the farm was devastating. We buried The Green's loved ones that were killed along with little Sophia. In a strange way I was glad I never got to know Sophia, so then I would never had the heartache of having to watch her die...and I would maybe not even have had the courage to put her down myself...

Shane was running rampant as he was the one who opened the barn, and Hershel is basically looking at him like the devil. Its like she changed for the worse over the past few days. I would catch him giving Lori these strange looks of longing, but brushing off Carl every chance he got....But I wasn't in camp long enough to point that out to anyone...

Everyone was down by the barn where we had dug the graves, and I was standing outside of the RV trying to muster up the courage to get Carol to come. "You gonna go inside or what?" I heard someone say behind me, and I knew it was Daryl by his southern twang. I have noticed that him, Rick and Shane were the three people with the most noticeable accents. I sighed and opened the door, stepping inside...

Carol was sitting at the table staring at the window, playing with her hands. "Carol are you coming?" I asked softly taking a seat in front of her. She looked up and scowled at me before shaking her head. "Carol Im so sorry, But I had to do that" I said trying to take her hands in mine, she just snatched them away. "No! I wanted to be with my daughter and you took that choice away from me!" She said her voice getting louder. "That's not fair " Daryl said from the doorway.

"just leave me alone, both of you" Carol said before heading to the back of the RV and laying down. I just put my head in my hands and sighed, hoping that Carol would eventually understood that, that wasn't her little girl that I shot. "Come on" Daryl said putting a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and he offered me a hand up. I stared for a second before taking his calloused hand in mine. I thought he would let go but he just lead me out of the RV. Of course when we got closer to everyone he dropped my hand and quickened his pace...

I stood beside Beth, trying to comfort her as she stood over her mothers grave...her father saying comforting words from the Bible and telling memories of the days before the world went to hell. Maggie was leaning against Glenn for support and I Daryl was standing by himself on the other side of the graves against a tree... When Hershel finished everyone dispersed...Maggie, Beth, Jimmy and Hershel all went inside the house with Glenn following behind. Shane, T-Dog and Andrea started getting the dead bodies to burn by the barn. And Rick, Lori, and Carl were standing in a circle talking off to the side. So that Left me...and Daryl...

Daryl nodded in the direction of his...well no our tent and I followed...

I climbed inside and sat on Daryl sleeping bag fiddling with my thumbs as Daryl sat across from me. "Were ya alone before ya got here?" He asked, scratching the back of his neck. I looked up and his eyes met mine, and I noticed how blue his eyes were, and it was crazy that they were almost the identical color of my own. I nodded "Yeah I barely made it out of Macon, tried for Atlanta but ran out of gas...since then I was wandering around in the woods just trying not become dinner" I said adding a small chuckle at the end. "Weird I never seen ya before, me and my brother were living in Macon before all this shit happened" He told me.

"Guess you never needed stitches" I said laughing "I pretty much just lived at the hospital"

"Figured you'd be married or somethin" He said looking down and playing with the ends of his sleeping bag. "Could say the same for you" I said, and that actually earned me a smirk from him.

We chatted for a while and i could tell it started to get later. We actually had some things in common, neither of us had any family, and were pretty much outcasts from our previous lives...His brother Merle had cut off his own hand in Atlanta after Rick handcuffed him to a roof, which shocked me....and Daryl hasn't seen him since. We could sympathize with each other, both not having anyone to depend on...kind of the Ezra's in the group. After we found Sophia I could tell it pained him, since he was the main one to look for her everyday, getting shot in the process.....I couldn't help but lose respect in Carol for the fact that she never once went out to help find her little girl, had that been me I wouldn't quit looking until I knew either way.

He told me he felt like an errand boy, having people always relying on him to do things but getting nothing in return. I could understand that, even the small ammount of time I was with this group. "This might sound cheesy, but you can rely on me if you want" I said shrugging when our conversation had stopped. He looked up and me and leaned back against his hands on his cot, making his already large arms even bigger...and I couldn't help but stare at them. "You know, I watch your back you watch mine" I added.

He chewed on his lip for a second before responding "I got your back" He said nodding and I smiled.

He looked like he wanted to say something more but the appearance of Lori cut him off. "Hershel, Rick and Glenn left and Beth is in shock...she needs her dad" Lori said standing in our tents opening. "And?" Daryl asked impatiently. "And, I need you to go find them" Lori said bending down to our level since we were sitting down. Daryl gave me a look like "Told ya" before standing up closer to Lori.

"Your boy went window shoppin, go fetch him your damn self...Im done lookin for people" He told her, and she looked to me for help and I just shrugged...she then looked at Daryl appalled. "How could you be so selfish?" She asked with her arms crossed across her chest. My eyes went wide and I shook my head not believing that she said that to him. I knew Lori before all of this, but the few days I knew Daryl I knew he was a good person even if his exterior was cold a lot of the time. Daryl was the one person to go out day and night to look for a little girl that wasn't even his. And that to me is the most selfless thing in my eyes....I then felt bad all of a sudden realizing I was one of the people he had to look for only days before....

"Selfish? I was out there looking for that little girl every single day! took a bullet and an arrow in the process, hell if it weren't for Emma I'd be dead right now! So go fetch them yourself!" Daryl said flinging his hands around before he sat back down. "Emma?" She asked looking at me, hopeful that I would say yes. I just shrugged. I opened my mouth to respond but Daryl beat me to it  " are you stupid? She's not goin either...find someone else" He said waving Lori off.

She stomped out and I snorted at her face as she left "Speaking for me now?" I asked leaning forward leaning my elbows against my knees. He shook his head "Your not goin out there alone, they need you here" He said mimicking me leaning forward and I realized we were only inches from each other. I don't know why all of a sudden I got nervous around him. He was really handsome even with all of the dirt smeared all over his body. His eyes, a sparkling blue and his hair a light brown that hung down in his face....I almost wished he needed medical attention before everything happened just so I could get a glimpse of his baby blues.

"Im glad you stuck up to Lori, for me too" I said softly, looking down. He played with his hands some more before reaching out and awkwardly putting one on top of mine. "I got your back, your got mine" He said.....
