"Say cheese!"
I smiled broadly into the face of a digital camera that was being held by Mark as I stood in front of a huge ass tree with Tyler's arm over my shoulder. Josh was standing off to my other side, giving the camera a big thumbs up. We had stopped just outside Charleston, Virginia after a long night of driving. The highway was silent, surprisingly, and I could feel a soft breeze blowing through a pine forest. Together, Tyler, Josh, Mark and I had opened the back of the van and ate our practical breakfast of a granola bar and a juice box."Do you want to go look around in the forest?" Tyler asked me.
"How much time do we have?"
Tyler looked down at his watch.
"About half an hour until we get back on the road." He told me. I never got to go into many forests, except for my school's old camping trips. I was curious as to what there was to see in the woods.
"Sure, why not?"
(Tyler's P.o.V)
"We'll be back in a bit." I told Mark and Josh."Don't get lost." Mark warned us.
"We won't." Emily said to him. I began to walk into the forest, with Emily's arm linked with mine. I was overwhelmed by the smell. It was so different then from Columbus.
'Man,' I thought to myself, 'I really don't get out much.'
Emily and I walked further into the woods, until we found a small stream. Light sparkled off the water as it trickled through rows of pebbles. It was surrounded by small plants and moss. Emily crouched down by the stream and stuck the tips of her fingers in the water.
"Why am I so impressed by a little stream?" She asked me, laughing at herself. It was just a stream, but she really was fascinated by it.
"I dunno." I replied.
"Maybe it's just the little things that are the most beautiful to watch." Emily said to no one in particular. I just smiled and shook my head at her. I wondered what was going on inside of her head. Suddenly she gasped.
"Tyler Tyler Tyler Tyler Tyler Tyler." She stood up. I looked around.
"What?"
"Deer." She pointed a bit further down the stream. A doe had emerged from the trees, followed by a speckled Fawn.
"Oh my gosh oh my gosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh." Emily whispered excitedly. The mother had nudged the Fawn over to the stream, where it dipped it's bead in the water.
"I've never seen a deer before it's so beautiful and look at how little they baby is and look at its little white spots..." Emily went on describing the deer. I had seen deer before, but it wasn't very common. Emily stood very still as she talked about the deer. I walked up and wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my chin on her shoulder, and just let her talk.
"Emily?" I finally spoke. She stopped talking.
"I'm so sorry, was I rambling?" She turned a bit red. I laughed.
"You say rambling, I call it lengthy description'. Its sort of adorable." I smiled. I watched as the doe and the fawn disappeared back into the forest. Emily sighed.
"We should probably head back to the van."I said to her.
"Already?" She complained as she turned to face me.
"Yeah, I want to stay longer too, but we need to get on the road."
"Fine." She said. I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
"C'mon." I grabbed her hand as we walked together out of the woods.
