Since I had a meeting at the police office today, I thought I might as well report Jessica's message today. I wore casual clothes because it was a casual day. I got a call from Carlos. I was in the shower when he called, so he left a voice message. He asked me how I was doing and said call back when I got a chance. So I decided I'd do that when I got home from this.
Carlos was the only person I didn't shut out to. I called him as soon as I woke up to tell him everything. He was so understanding. He was also Josh's best friend. He know how to be comforting, but not like boyfriend comforting. Also, he was hella hot. He was the cutest guy I knew, besides Josh, who I missed terribly.
Almost as soon as I got to the police office, I was called back. The first words out of my mouth were: "I got a threat text from Josh's ex, Jessica." I handed him my phone. Officer Johnson sighed and said, "She's in custody now, actually." I was stunned. What she done that was so wrong, other than threaten me via text? "Really?" I said, sounding about as stunned as I looked. He also mentioned that the trial had to be changed to tomorrow. Apparently, Karen had called because she accidentally double booked herself with work on that day. I said, "Okay." So far, they had found the crime scene and discovered both Josh and his blood on the scene. The murder weapon was a pocket knife. I actually started crying, because who would ever do that to a nice guy like Joshua?
That question remained in my mind as I called Karen after the meeting. She was stunned and said, " A pocket knife. Who the hell kills someone with a pocket knife?" I told her the many reasons people kill other people with pocket knifes. I told her about the message from Jessica. "I know that she was evil from the moment Josh brought her home the first time." "You know she was already in custody when I reported it?" Karen sat shocked and replied, " I didn't know that, but I would expect she did something awful." Then her work called and she had to go.
Jessica and I were friends for about two months back in school. That's why this felt so much like betrayal. We were best friends. I have pictures in my closet of us. When we were friends, she promised even if we weren't friends she'd never betray me. She lied.
What had Jessica done that was so terrible?
