Chapter Eighteen
Rosalie made the beach private for the night. It was six at night and the sun was setting and everything was set. The chairs were in two aisles and guests had chosen their seats at random. The seats were white wooden with silver bows around them. A white carpet was rolled out between the chairs, leading to an arch with small silver bows, green ivy leaves and white roses. I wore a white tux with a silver tie and waistcoat. Edward wore black with silver tie. I had an official marital registrar with me. He wasn't a vampire but Eleazar had connections with this man who did marriages specifically to vampires as well as humans. Of course, the man wasn't used to so many red eyes but all vampires had hunted beforehand and weren't going to ruin my wedding day.
A soft melody started to play and Esme walked down the aisle, followed by Rosalie. Esme was wearing a traditional white dress with lace on the bodice and a silky skirt complete with train. She had a veil on and held a bouquet of white and silver roses. Rosalie wore a knee length silk silver bridesmaid dress and held a smaller bouquet of white roses. She had a small tiara balanced on her blonde curls.
I held my hand out to Esme and she took it, standing beside me. The registrar said his introduction then we said the vows while putting on the golden wedding rings. Esme looked so blissfully happy and I felt the same...
He pronounced us man and wife and I took Esme's face gently in my hands, and kissed her gently but passionately. Everyone clapped and the party followed us to the reception.
Rosalie had turned a clearing in the middle of the forest into a party. She had hired a wedding tent with a proper dance floor. Around the clearing, the trees were decorated in pink fairy lights and the floor was scattered with pink and white confetti.
We stuck to human traditions. The bouquet was thrown and landed in Rosalie's hands. We cut a pink and silver cake to much applause. We had our first dance to Esme's favourite song. I even went under her dress and took off her garter to much applause, laughter and whoops. Esme danced with Edward and I danced with Rosalie. I danced with other people too and introduced Esme to my friends.
"Carlisle. Congratulations." Eleazar shook my hand. I smiled at my old friend.
"Thank you Eleazar. My wife, Esme." I introduced.
"Delightful to finally meet you, Mrs Cullen," Eleazar smiled at her, kissing her hand. He then gestured to the brown, curly haired woman beside him. "This is my wife, Carmen." Carmen hugged me and kissed Esme on both cheeks.
"Pleasure to meet you both." She said in a beautiful foreign accent. Eleazar looked around the crowd of guests.
"You must meet my girls... Tanya?" A strawberry haired, shoulder lengthed blonde woman appeared out of nowhere. She too had the golden eyes of a vegetarian diet.
"Your girls..." Tanya scoffed as two more girls appeared behind Eleazar. Tanya kissed me on both cheeks then Esme too. "Lovely to meet you both. Eleazar has told us lots about you, Carlisle."
"I'm Kate." Kate shook my hand and kissed Esme. Kate had blonde hair down past her waist and golden eyes too. The last girl had her hair up in a fancy hair do but it was quite curly from what you could see.
"My name is Irina." She too embraced me and Esme. Edward appeared at my shoulder and Rosalie moved to stand beside Esme.
"This is Edward and Rosalie." All three blonde Denali girls eyed Edward up and down in approval.
"Are you two together?" Eleazar asked their unspoken questions.
"No!" They both said in the same tone of disgust. Esme sighed dramatically but she smiled.
"We do try but they're not having it." She said teasingly.
"Too right!" Rosalie muttered. I squeezed her hand.
"Be good." I told her. She smiled at me, innocently.
"I AM being good."
"Well, you must stay with us, sometime Carlisle." Tanya said. She unwillingly moved her eyes to look at me.
"We would be delighted to once we've settled here." I told her warmly.
"It's been so nice to meet you all, congratulations." Eleazar told us again.
The party continued well on through the night but at long last, dawn broke and everyone separated to go their own ways. I took Esme back to the house so we could change. Rosalie and Edward packed away the decorations and the wedding tent was taken down and given back to the rental company.
Rosalie had laid out an outfit for me and one for Esme. As we got dressed (in separate rooms of course), Esme said to me,
"It's a shame we don't get a honeymoon." I put on pants and a crisp new shirt then some new shoes before meeting Esme at the stairs.
"Oh we ARE going on honeymoon." I told her, my eyes twinkling.
"We are?" She looked taken aback.
"Yep. Our suitcases are already packed."
"Wait! But what about Rosalie and Edward? We leave them here and they're going to tear the house apart!" Edward snorted with laughter.
"I might not see eye to eye with her on everything but I wouldn't do that to you after all your hard work with this place." Edward and Rosalie were waiting near the front door, still dressed in their wedding finery.
"You'll go to school?" Esme checked.
"Stop fussing! Go and enjoy your honeymoon!" Edward picked up the suitcases and put them in the back of our new car, a Mercedes S55 AMG. Esme hugged Rosalie then Edward.
"Hunt often, go to school, stay safe and look AFTER each other!" Esme ordered.
"Yes, Mom. Now go!" Edward kissed her cheek. "Have fun."
I hugged Edward and kissed Rosalie then got in the driver's seat.
Look after her, Edward. I know you don't always get on but please? For my sake.
Edward nodded. Esme got in, we gave a final wave and then we were off on our honeymoon.
