Chapter Thirty-Five

"We're engaged!" Rosalie declared, in delight. She showed her ring. It was a golden band with a diamond set in it. It wasn't a particular big diamond but it stood out.

"It's a very beautiful ring." Emmett smiled at me in response. 'Thanks Dad' he mouthed. I smiled back.

"So when's the wedding?" Edward asked, innocently.

"Well... We were thinking Friday." Rosalie exchanged a glance with Emmett then looked at us, anxiously. I couldn't prevent my laughter.

"Oh hell yes. Pay up," Esme's jaw dropped and she punched my arm. I laughed, clutching where she had hit me. "Ow! What was that for?"

"For being a... An... Inconsiderate bastard." I pretended to gasp in mock horror.

"Esme! Language!" I caught her around the waist, tickling her. She gasped with laughter. When she was on the floor, still wriggling about, I pinned her down and held out my hand to Edward. He growled in annoyance and went upstairs. He came back downstairs with three bundles of money.

"One fifty." I counted the piles.

"Thank YOU."

"You BET on us?!" Rosalie was the picture of anger. Emmett leaned forward in his interest.

"What was the bet?"

"You really don't want to know..." Edward snorted with laughter at Rosalie's expression. Even I couldn't hide my smile.

"I do."

"Whether or not the wedding would be within a week." I chuckled gently.

"You're not betting again, mister!" Esme was stood up. She grabbed me by the ear and pulled me up the stairs.

"Ow! Ow, ow!"

"You promise you won't bet?"

"I swear!" Esme had dragged me into the study by this point. She shut the door and looked at me with lustful eyes. I put my betting money in a desk drawer then turned back to her. She was unbuttoning her shirt, revealing the black lace bra underneath it. I instantly felt aroused by this. I took a deep breath.

"The kids are downstairs..." I whispered.

"They won't hear if we're extra quiet..." She murmured.

"You've convinced me." I said as she dropped her shirt to the floor. I was in front of her in a second, kissing her and pulling her closer. My hands were on her waist, moving her back to my desk where she perched on the edge.

"I think we should leave some good memories on this desk, don't you?" I smiled and laid her down.

"Agreed."
