Chapter Forty-Nine
Against all the odds, Edward and Emmett welcomed Alice and Jasper easily. Alice was in her element but it took Jasper a little longer. Once Edward and Rosalie left to go back to school, Alice was keen to enrol too. However Jasper would not be attending the high school until his thirst was under wraps. With a whole family of vegetarian vampires for support, Jasper got his thirst under control quite well. However he was still new to this way of life and as a result would not be joining Alice at the local high school.
However Emmett and Jasper got on well when Rose, Alice and Edward were at high school. I worked my shift most days but Esme came over on my 'lunch' break and told me of the pair. I was amazed and satisfied by how well everyone was getting on together. However I knew Esme was still worried about Edward but he was never alone for one second. He and Alice were like twins. Their talents linked them closer together and this meant that they were pretty much inseparable. My family had never been more tightly knit.
