Chapter Sixteen

Esme had been making preparations for our leaving Rochester. We would be going into a different state now. She had bought a house in Tennessee and had searched for schools for Rosalie and Edward. Rosalie would only go when she was ready to. And when her eyes looked a little more normal. Esme had lost control of her thirst once or twice before coming to Rochester but she seemed to be in full control now. However Rosalie didn't seem to have a problem with the humans. The scent didn't help her if she was around it when she was thirsty. She craved their blood. But even the best of vampires did. But I was willing to let her decide when she wanted to go and study.

After my last shift at Rochester's hospital, I felt relieved. All the doctors had been discussing deaths, murders, rape and court trials. I was sick of it and ready to start over. I saw cop cars race past me. I felt slightly confused at that. However I thought nothing of it and walked home. While walking home, I stopped to purchase the evening edition of the newspaper. I read the headline of the front page. My eyes widened in my shock and I ran all the way home. I burst through the front door and into the living room. Edward had been reading a book, Esme had been sketching and Rosalie had been 'napping'. They all looked up when I entered, surprised at my expression. I threw the paper down in Rosalie's lap.

"Explain?" Rosalie read the headline, smirked and shrugged.

"Closure." Edward was over in a flash, picking up the newspaper and examining the front page.

"King Heir Found Dead. Royce King the Second's mutilated body found by father." He read out.

"Closure." Rosalie repeated.

"Revenge more like." Edward corrected. Rosalie scowled at him.

"You know it."

"Had fun?" He was teasing now. Rosalie couldn't stop smiling.

"The best." Her red eyes twinkled mischievously.
