Chapter Forty-Four
Edward and Emmett graduated from college with their honours and more knowledge in their minds. Instead of going to the University of Alaska, it was time to move on. Not only was it time for us to leave, but the Denali coven had made plans for their own movements. We would not be going with them as being together for this long had caused us to be noticed by many humans. We were all round about the same age physically so it was unnatural for such a huge family to live together. In human eyes anyway. So we were leaving. And this time we would be moving to a small town in Philadelphia, known for its state of constant rain.
"I'm going to miss you." Eleazar smiled at me warmly. All around us, boxes were being packed and loaded into our cars. I spun around to face my old friend and companion.
"And I shall miss you too," Eleazar walked over to me and helped me to pack my various items. We were silent for several minutes and then I looked up at him. "May I ask a personal question?"
"Of course my friend." Eleazar looked faintly surprised.
"I have been thinking about Tanya's history a lot but... It does rather have a few gaps in. Like what happened to them after they left their dead mother?" Eleazar hesitated his packing. He held a thick book in his hands. His blackish golden eyes scanned the back cover.
"Well... After they left, Tanya and her sisters filled their mourning days by becoming the stories of the succubus." My eyes grew wide at that. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised because most legends that surrounded the vampires were mostly true. However I wouldn't have thought of these three sisters to be the ones that were centred on the succubus. The succubus. An immortal female who would capture human men and have sex with them before murdering them. But Tanya? Kate and Irina? I didn't think it possible!
"That's... Unexpected." Eleazar saw my surprised expression and smiled, placing the book down into the packing box.
"They seduced and murdered many men before finally changing their patterns. And meeting Carmen and I. We've all been together ever since and they haven't ever looked back."
"Why would we want to?" Irina was leaning against the doorframe. She was smiling kindly.
"That's a very good question." Eleazar told her, smiling back at her. I held my hands up in surrender, horrified that she had possibly overheard.
"I'm so sorry Irina. I didn't want to ask..." She shook her head.
"Not at all. Curiosity does tend to get the better of us, especially in our kind."
Eleazar picked up one of the boxes and Irina danced forward to take another. That left me with the last two boxes and I followed them down the stairs to my car. Esme was standing by the passenger door, hugging Carmen goodbye. Edward was already in his car, hiding from Tanya who was attempting to get his attention by tapping on his window. Emmett and Rosalie were in their car and Kate was chatting to Rose.
Irina and Eleazar put their boxes in the trunk of my car and I put mine in then closed the lid.
"So I shall see you soon, old friend." I embraced Eleazar.
"Stay safe." I told him. I then turned and hugged Irina.
After we had said our goodbyes, I got into the driver's seat of my car and we left to start our new adventure in Philadelphia.
