Chapter 1
Where to Start
The pounding of rain beating down on the roof and window pane. This sound was only drowned out by the rolls of thunder and pounding of her heart. She had sought safety in her father's cabin. Her ex-fiance had threatened her life because she had broken off their engagement.
She had triple checked the locks, and had let her guard down slightly. Feeling safer there. The solace of the cabin was peaceful, yet unnerving. Alicia clambered into her parents' bedroom, seeking refuge in a room that held so many good memories. Dim lights, neutral colors, slick hard wood floors, and woodsy decor is a suffecient description of the room.
The sound of rain soothed her, but her wide blue eyes still scanned every dark corner of the room. Finding nothing better to do she curled up in the bed; allowing the heavy duvet to settle over her frail body. Warmth radiated off her and made her even more drowsy.
At that time she heard the shattering of glass in the entry room. She let out a shriek of fear. Alicia assumed maybe it was just a fallen branch tousled by the wind. She shrugged off the duvet and rose to her feet. Then, went to further investigate. Her small feet padded into the room and spotted no branch, but instead large wet footprints through the broken shards of glass.
The footprints lead into the kitchen. She let a deep sigh, and shrugged on her jacket. In fear she grabbed her handbag and car keys, planning to make a run for it. She ran outside, back into the pouring rain. Finally, reaching her small silver mini cooper. The tall blonde immediately climbed inside and shoved her key in the ignition. Then, when she started to buckle her seat-belt; she saw it. Her large cold ex-fiance's body, Drew, laying in the passenger seat. His head laying limply into the window.
Alicia nearly choked, she couldn't scream, she couldn't move. A moment later, when she was finally unfrozen; she started to react. "What do I do?!" She beat her hands on the steering wheel. "Oh, frick I have to go!" She yelled and quickly floored the car. Speeding, down the narrow winding road. Her eyes couldn't help, but keep settling on Drew's lifeless body. Alicia made it out of the woods and almost onto the main highway. She noticed her car starting slow down, without her hitting the break. Her bright blue eyes finding the gas gauge. She shakily guided the car onto the shoulder of the road. Nearly having a stroke, she jerked her pocketbook into her lap.
Alicia only looked up when a loud knock sounded on the window. She screamed involuntarily, but then calmed slightly when she saw this stunning face. She looked back at her phone though, and then back at him. This stranger's green eyes were warm and easy to trust. She unlocked the door, allowing this man to open it with ease. He pulled it open with his large strong hands. "Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong? Are you alright?" He asked squatting down to her level. Alicia broke down into tears, shaken from all these events. "I-I, he, in my car. D-Drew's dead, he c-chased me." She sputtered her emotions all on edge. "Alicia, shhh, calm down. Don't worry, I'll call the police. Everything will be alright. I'll take care of you." He said in a smooth British accent. Alicia nodded and let him take her hand, pulling her from the car. Her mind was wracking with thoughts of gratitude.
This nameless stranger led her over to his large expensive Range Rover. "I'm Harry, Harry Styles." He said coolly, and pulled out his phone making all the necessary calls. He got Alicia to sit in his car until the police and coroner arrived, they confiscated her car for evidence and took a quick statement from her.
"Alicia I can drive you to your apartment." Harry offered her as he made his way to the drivers side of the car. He put the key in the ignition, and smiled slightly as the car roared to life. "No, I'm so scared. They're coming for me next. Those people who killed Drew." Alicia cried, slumping forward in her seat. Harry frowned to himself. "No. What was I thinking? You need someone to be with you. You come over to my place. I won't bother you or anything, though." He said, being all gentleman like. Alicia looked over at him with wide eyes. This man was so sweet and genuine. Who was he?
It was growing darker by the minute, night really starting to fall. "T-thank you, Mr. Styles." She said quietly. "No, Alicia, its Harry. Just call me Harry." He said and offered her this brilliant this boyish smile. His dimples becoming prominent, and his perfect white teeth coming into view. Alicia felt the corners of her plump lips twitch upwards, involuntairly. "Thank you, Harry." She said.
