Chapter 17
Making Friends
After last night, everything had seemed to calm down with in the confines of their now shared apartment. Alicia had woken up to the buzzing sound of Harry's phone, and she barely reached it in time to answer. Her free left hand, tangled into her messy blonde hair as she answered the call.
"Harry, how are you?" The sound of Steven's voice called out loudly in her ear. "Hey, no Steven. It's not Harry. It's me, Alicia. How are you?" Alicia responded quietly, she did admit to herself that she did want to be friends with Steven. He seemed like a pretty chill guy, and she also just loved to be friends with real people. Not stupid fakes like Valerie. "Alicia? Oh! Harry hot girlfriend! Okay, okay, I was just wondering if you guys want to meet up today? We could like go bowling or something..." Steven offered, sounding game for anything in her opinion. "Yeah, well Harry's asleep at the moment, but I ca-" She started to accept his offer, but she was sharply cut short.
"Harry lets you sleep in the bed with him? Like in the same bed?" Steven sputtered, sounding so shocked over this simple thing. "Yeah, of course." Alicia said, getting ready to hit him with the third degree. "Woah. He never let anyone else do that. He wouldn't let them stay in the apartment, after eleven." Steven mumbled under his breath. "He's very particular." He added on hintingly.
"Steven, I'd much rather talk about this in person... how 'bout me and Hazza meet you at the bowling alley here in two hours?" Alicia said, not wanting to hear anything else at the moment. She felt nauseous, like she was going to puke everywhere. Since she was a nurse, she knew all to well what this meant, another sure fire sign that she was pregnant. As if three positive tests hadn't been enough. "Okay, see you then Alicia!" Steven said, excitedly and hung up abruptly.
Right as Alicia stumbled to her feet, trying to make a run to the bathroom, her big eyes met Harry's. "Shit." She whimpered, but couldn't hang around to hear his yelling. Instead, taking off to the en-suite and dropping to her knees in front of the toilet. As the frail blonde was emptying out the contents of her stomach, she felt a pair of large hands intertwine with her locks. Pulling them back gently out of her face. One hand dropped to her upper back, and moved from side to side soothingly. "It's okay, baby. It's alright." He said softly, still infuriated that she had answered his phone and talked to Steven. Not to mention, some plans she made up for the three of them, but now was not the time. He felt the urge to break into one of his fits of rage, but his heart wouldn't let his rage win. He loved her to much. She was suffering, and he sure as hell wasn't going to become an antagonist.
The stupid yelling and rage could wait.
When Alicia flushed the toilet, and turned on her knees to face Harry, he couldn't help but let himself soften up. How could he be mad at her. He grabbed a wash cloth and wiped her lips off tenderly. Then, his warm thumb caressed her plump bottom lip so gently that her body shuddered in reaction. "All better?" He asked, as he released her hair and offered her a hand. She hastily took it, and bent over to brush her teeth.
Suddenly then his cool broke. As if out of nowhere he looked mad, absolutely mad. He clenched his fists tightly. "Why the fuck did you answer my phone this morning? Huh?" He growled loudly, and started to approach her from behind. She spit, and then put her toothbrush back on the stand. Her frail framing whipping around to face him. "I-I... it was just, Steven." She answered timidly. "OH I FUCKING KNOW WHO IT WAS! You talk to him while I'm sleeping. Do you have no respect for me? I WAS LAYING RIGHT BESIDE YOU!" He yelled in her face, as if she had been cheating on him. He turned and punched the hell out of picture frame.
Glass shards flew every which way, multiple getting stuck in his knuckles. He then turned back towards her, bloody and all. "Why Steven?! What in gods name were you talking about with him! TELL ME!" He shouted at the top of his lungs. Alicia tried to back away from Harry, having never seen him this angry before. "H-He called you, and I didn't want to wake you. He...he just wanted us to meet up with him at the bowling alley in a couple of hours." She spat hastily, trying to get it all out in one breath. Harry couldn't think straight at the moment and grabbed her wrist so she couldn't step back any farther.
He had no idea or control over how tight he was squeezing her. "Harry! You, you're hurting me! Please stop!" Alicia cried, literally starting to think he was going to break her wrist. She felt tears slide down her cheeks heatedly, then nothing. Harry had completely let her go. She looked up to where she expected to see hi, but he wasn't there.
Instead, he had dropped to his knees, in tears. His green eyes all glassy and wide. She looked at him for awhile with a cocked head. Being so perplexed it was even laughable. She eventually couldn't handle it anymore. No matter what he did to her, she was far too blinded by love to just let him drown in his own pool of tears. She interpreted them to be tears of true remorse. That made her find forgiveness for him.
Alicia pulled his bloody hands away from his face, and cupped his pale cheeks in her hand. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. I just... I just thought... I never meant to hurt you. I'm so sorry. I'm such a dumb dickhead. Baby girl, let me see your wrist please. Please, I'm so sorry." He said slowly and scratchily. She shook her head, and instead pull his face closer to hers', and kissed his soft lips.
Tasting salty tears, hers' and his'. She kissed him until she felt like he had pulled himself together. "Harry, I would never cheat on you. You're all I could ever ask for. I love you. We're going to have a baby together, but you need to learn to control your anger." She whispered to him, grazing her teeth on his ear lobe. "I will. I love you, Ali. I really do." He replied, and pecked her small dimple.
His large hand clasp gingerly around her wrist, inspecting the red marks and already forming bruises. "Oh my god. No. No. No. No." He said, starting to tear up again. Finding it so hard to comprehend that he had done this to her. It couldn't have been him.
He would never. Never in his right mind.....
