Inhaling deeply as if my life depended on it, I coughed, rolling on my stomach as I placed my hands on the mattress to lift myself. On my knees I sat up and took a couple more breaths as if I ran a marathon. "Oh God," I placed my hand on my chest. My heart was running and for one moment I thought it would jump out of my ribcage and say, "Fuck this shit."
My dad was alive. Well I never knew if he was alive or not. But to think he was chained on the wall. It makes me sick to the point that I could feel my blood boil. My hands started to shake, I'm so angry. That Crevan has the balls to torment my family just to have them. I'll kill him, I'll kill them all!
"You're alive, I see," slowly turning my head to the cell door, Helena smiled. I took a glance towards Victor's corner... empty. "Lennox took him. He kicked you when you didn't wake. Victor was all over the place trying to kill my brother. Poor guy, my brother punched him right in the gut, knocking him out. So tell me, what brings you back from the dead?"
So. I was found out, wasn't I. I held my ground, gave her a glare like no other, "what brought you back?"
She looked at me for a moment as if she was looking for the answer but then she smiled. "You have more than one gift, don't you?" She shook her head up and down, "Yes, now I see why father kept you alive. Regardless of you being my betraying brother's daughter. You are still useful, to us."
"You're thinking this all wrong. My father didn't betray anyone. It was Crevan. As a father it's his job to protect his children not kill them or to use them. That's not what family is. My father was protecting Dawn and I, so nothing bad would happen to us. He was a father who protected his children. Crevan betrayed you, your brothers and sister, everyone. Even himself."
"Believe as you will. But my father is a great man. A man who will do anything to make things right."
"Well his doing a shite job of it," I said. She tilted her head to the side and my body followed. As I was thrown across the room, I hit the sharp walls of the cell and she made me slam onto the ceiling, the other wall in the cell, to the floor and back to the ceiling again. Finally she let me go making me fall onto my side hurting my shoulder.
"You will do well to keep your tongue silent," she spoke, opening the door and letting herself in. "Father has invited everyone to dinner," she said walking over to me. I was in so much pain that I didn't have the energy to hit her. Using her powers again she lifted my body, behind her back she pulled out a black collar.
"Ow yippy! A last meal and treated like a dog, you want me to bark for you too?" I smirked.
"I will enjoy it if you did," she tighten the collar tightly around my neck with a wicked smile. "But I'm not like Melantha." Just hearing that name pissed me off so much that I'm starting to enjoy thinking about killing someone.
Helena took me out of the cell, to the hallway. The place was dark, filled with candles and old panting of people I don't know. It was like I was sent back in time. It took us some time to get to the dining room, or the dining hall Helena would call it. There I saw a long table filled with a feast like one I've never seen before. Well no... it reminded me of the Grinch that stole Christmas, when all the Who's have a big feast for all but this was not a Christmas story.
Dawn sat at the table closest to the end while River sat next to her and Connor sat next to River. On the other side Victor sat right across from Connor leaving two empty chair on his right. Connor and Victor's parents were seated down the other side of the table on Dawn's side.
Helena guided me to my seat next to Victor, who was shocked to see me. Everyone was but Dawn. "Edea!" dawn said with a smile. "You're here?! Victor was just telling us that something bad happened to you. Did something happen?"
