Last day of summer before college

Summer has come and past. The innocent can never last. Wake me up when September ends. Like my fathers come to pass, seven years has gone so fast. Wake me up when September ends.

I hummed along to the amazing Green Day famous song as I kept packing everything I will need for four months away from home for the first semester of college with Nia. We found out last week Nia and I will be sharing a form together which makes it all better. I'm studying photography and music. Nia is studying cookery and music.

"Wake me up, when September ends." The song ended as I chose Halsey next.

"My demons, are begging me to open my mouth." I hummed along as I nearly finished packing my clothes. I knew these four months may be hard in my dad, this is going to be the longest I've been away from him in nearly two years. My phone buzzed.

Sure, you can help me packing.

I was scared. This is the last real day Michael and I will be able to spend with each other before we both set off for college. Tomorrow we say goodbye to not only each other but to our other friends who aren't coming with us. We say goodbye to our family. For me I say goodbye to the only part of blood family I have left with me. My father.

My mood has completely flipped and soon before I knew it I was close to tears flowing down my cheeks. I found myself sitting down on the floor, my hair a mess, crying. Soon I heard a loud knock on the door, hearing the footsteps of my dad answering the door.

"Oh hi Michael, she's upstairs packing."

"Thanks," I heard him walking up to my room yet I couldn't find myself to move from my spot or stop myself from crying.

"Hey bla- babe, what's wrong?!"

"Okay so I had packing, and then it all kind of hit me at once. The fact that we're leaving each other tomorrow. Today is our last real day together and then tomorrow it's all gonna be goodbyes and tears and- fuck." He sat down beside me, hugging me in his arms. He kissed my temple as I closed my eyes realising how badly I'm going to miss this and how much I'm going to need this when I get my periods.

"Michael.."

"What is it babe?"

"What am I gonna do when I need cuddles when I'm on my period and all I can do is hug my pillow?" It was a serious question but it made us both laugh which brightened the mood.

"You call me and I'm there within thirty minutes okay? I don't care what in doing. You call me and I'm there. You're my girl and it's my job to help you in any way I can especially when it's that time of the month." I smiled up at him as he pecked me on the lips.

"Can we watch Adventure Time and just cuddle?" I whispered as if it was only us in this world.

"Of course we can. Do you mind if we invite the guys and Nia over later to spend out last day all of us together? I don't know when the next time this will happen will be.." He spoke with sadness so I decided to call them over now.

"We can do that now. We both need them here. I can finish my packing later." I knew Michael would be spending the night, he already finished his packing earlier before he came over.

"You know, we should do something more exciting than chilling in the basement." Luke spoke up as we were in the middle of Adventure Time.

"Like what?" Nia sassed.

"Well, I brought my water guns and nerf guns? It's sunny out-"

"NERF GUN WAR!! LET'S GO!" Nia squealed, jumping up from her seat and dragging me with her.

"Babe slow down!" I heard Ashton yell for Nia but we were already upstairs by the time he called out. Once we got upstairs we didn't really know what to do.

"Well now what do we do.."

"LUCAS!" I yelled for Luke for get his nerf guns. We went up to my bedroom and changed into a pair of old shorts and a tank top. I let Nia borrow some of my old clothes that I wasn't bringing with me to college.

"Cmon lets go get first pick of the best guns." Soon we were all ready for our nerf gun/water gun war in the back yard. We were in separate teams. And the rules were we couldn't be with our couple. So I was in a team with Luke and Nia.

"Cmon guys this isn't fair. I need a dude."

"No you don't, if you need a dude then I need a girl! Let's just do this already!" I yelled as we all got into position.

"On 3! 1..2..3! GO!" Ashton yelled out as we all ran round trying not to get caught.

"Calum! I shot you, play dead now boy!" I heard Nia yell out as she hid behind a seat. Squeals and laughter filled my ears as I smiled at the scenery. This is the best day ever.

I woke up wishing I never had to leave this place. We all decided to stay in Australia for college which I was really happy about. I heard Julia was actually moving to America for school. It felt so strange not having her by my side through this. But at the end of the day it was her decision to leave us, and become friends with Stacey. I sighed as I got up from my bed, staring at the suitcases packed. I changed into a pair of black ripped shorts, and a black Mayday Parade shirt. I walked downstairs to see my dad cooking breakfast.

"What's all this?" I asked, sitting down at the island.

"You're goodbye breakfast." He looked at me sadly.

"Dad.. I am coming home for Christmas."

"I know but that's four months away. I'm gonna miss you so much sweetheart. You're mum would be so proud of you today. She'd probably be crying and hugging you already." we both laughed at the thought of it.

Good luck at college, sorry about the way things ended with us. Hope you and Michael are well. - Julia x

Well damn I wasn't expecting that. I looked at the text in shock.

"You okay honey?"

"Hm? Oh yeah I'm fine. Nia should be here soon, we said we would try and get there as early as we could. The boys are coming over in about half an hour so we can all say goodbye together." It was currently 8am. This is the earliest Michael will ever be awake.

Soon I brought my stuff all down to the front door so I can just put it in the car. Before I knew it I heard the doorbell. I knew this was it. I opened the door to see Luke by himself.

"Blaze, I don't think I can do this." He looked like he could cry at any moment now. I looked at him with sad eyes and in the same moment we both burst into a fit of tears.
