Chapter 23: Catch Fire

As usual, once school finished we all headed back to mine. However anytime I spoke to Michael or he looked at me Julia always managed to nudge me. I would always glare at her, and she would just grin a toothy smile.

The entire week went back and it was now Saturday and as the days went on my feelings for Michael were becoming stronger every minute longer I spent with him. And that was a lot. Currently, I was sat in my room on my laptop scrolling through tumblr which is not a good idea when you have things going on in your mind already. However I kept scrolling.

And scrolling.

Then I began to become bored. So I tried ringing Julia. She didn't answer. I tried Ashton, he didn't answer. Then I tried Luke and Calum who also didn't answer. Finally I tried Michael, hoping he would answer. But he didn't. Why was nobody answering? I dramatically sighed before grabbing my laptop and pulling up Netflix. I continued my binge watch of Ru Pauls Drag Race. This show is addictive.

After five episodes my tummy told me I was hungry. So I pulled the covers from my warm body and went down to the kitchen and grabbed all the food I could. Which consisted of left over pizza which was Michaels, a packet of chips, jolly ranchers and two cans of soda simply because one is not enough.

Just as I set everything down on my bed my phone was buzzing.

Maybe he's on another date and doesn't want to tell me. I laughed to myself thinking about. Then I crawled back under the covers and started eating my food. Alone. Like always. Kidding I have a social life. Sort of.

I decided since none of my friends were going to pick up the phone I'll do something drastic. I'm going to shave my hair. I'm going to cut my long blue hair off until it's saved at the sides. (It's halseys hair before she saved it ALL off)

This will give them a shock when they finally decide to pick up the phone. My dad wouldn't care, just be a little shocked. Before him and my mother started only caring about work he would always support me through everything. I grabbed my phone and dialled a family friend, Diana , who did our hair. She told me she would be over shortly. I was so excited for this new look.

Diana had now finished my hair and it looked so amazing! My dad loved it too. Of course still no messages or missed calls from my friends. I decided go ring Michael and see if he isn't busy anymore. Luckily he picked up.

"Hey what's up?" He sounded perky. That was something Michael never is. He may be happy, very happy some days but never perky.

"You seem.. Happier. Too happier. What happened Clifford, did you finally get a girl or something?"

"Ha that's funny Blaze. Can't I be in a good mood?"

"No you can't. Anyway, have you been talking to any of the guys or Julia today? Nobody likes to answer the phone to me today."

"Yeah, I've been talking to Ash and Luke. Not sure about Calum and Julia though." Weird. Luke and Ashton will answer Michael but not me. Weird.

"Anyway, what's up Blaze?"

"I need all of you to come over. I did something."

"What..what did you do.. Oh god what trouble did you get into this time?" I laughed, thinking about the last time I rang Michael saying this was the time I first drive by myself in my dads car and somehow I managed to crash his car into a tree. I didn't know who to ring other than Michael because he's dealt with trouble the most.

"Nothing..bad.."

"Oh Jesus I'm still worried for your sake Blaze. I'll tell Luke and Ashton now. You tell Julia and Calum if they answer."

So I did just that. When Michael hung up, I felt sad. Hearing his voice brought this little bit of happiness to my heart and a smile to my face. I told Julia who answered and Calum who also answered. Michael told me the boys were on their way over. Oh god what if I actually don't suit it and this is all in my mind? What if Michael doesn't like it? He did always tell me he loved my long blue hair.

I heard a knock on their door, I told my dad to get it because I wanted them to walk in on my surprise. I heard my dad talking to them, telling them I was in the basement. I heard the door to the basement open and footsteps walk down. Oh god here they come.

Julia took one look at me and screamed. When I say scream I mean horror movie screamed. I jumped out of my skin, and Luke God bless his soul fell backwards on the stairs and then slipped down the stairs knocking Ashton and Calum out of the way and down with him. Michael just stared at me. I was kind of creeped out a little.

"Is it really that bad?.." I became self conscious of myself.

"NO! It's so fricken cool! I love it! You manage to pull it off so good! I love it!" Julia squealed, as she started stroking my hair like a cat.

"Mike? Do you like it?"

"Wha- oh yeah I love yo- your hair!"

HIII!! Guys I'm so happy because tonight was a really good night.

Good night before a bad day the next...

I have sad news that I have to share.

On 23rd January 2004.. My granda died and I was only two. Just over two months before my third birthday. I look back at old videos and see him cracking jokes and smiling on Christmas Day and it just makes me miss him. Last year I was going to go out with my friends but I didn't because I wanted to remember him. I plan to just really remember everything about him, the way I played doctor with him when he was sick.. God do I miss him.
