Chapter 20: When You're Gone

I finally managed to calm down, Luke had ran to get my dad and Ashton stayed by my side. Michael and Calum went to get me some water.

"Ash?"

"Yeah blaze?"

"When will the pain become easier? I mean.. It's been two weeks. Shouldn't I be better by now?"

"Everyone takes their own time to grieve. It's only striking you now she's gone because it's her funeral. It's okay to feel pain for months, years. But soon you just..learn to live with it. But no matter how long it takes I'll be here okay? Remember that. "

"Thank you Ashton.." Soon after my dad came out with Luke and he hugged me tightly.

"Are you okay to come inside?" He asked me and I nodded.

"Okay let's go." He whispered, Ashton walked beside me with his arm over my shoulders. We sat down in the front row of the church as I watch dad and two of my uncles and some family friends carrying in the casket. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle this.

I was sat between Michael and Ashton. This is something I never expected to happen, having someone I used to once hate so much I couldn't bare the sight of him and on my other side someone I never spoke to until four months ago. I rested my head on Ashton's shoulder as e intertwined our hands together. For some reason this felt right.

I asked Julia if she could make a speech for her funeral, which she thankfully accepted. It was her turn to go up.

"Hi everyone, um my name is Julia Pierce and not many of you will know me but I am Blazes best friend. And her mother was like another mother to me, even when she was busy on business trips when she was home and still working, whenever she seen me she always asked how I was. And yeah that's a small simply gesture but to me, it means a lot. Not many people I know these days ask how you are, really meaning it. That woman, was heartbroken not long before her death. Blazes dad, is an awesome dude but so was his wife. She worked hard at her job to provide for her only daughter and only child. And I know, in these past few months Blaze has grown closer to her and I think all of mine and Blazes friend group have grown closer to her. It's just a real shame we didn't get longer with her. In the words of one of my best friends favourite bands, Tonight Alive, 'you'll always be perfect you'll always be beautiful. Our hearts will never forget you, you didn't belong here and it's become so clear why heaven called your name.' Our love lies with you. Our souls fly with you. Amelia."

She came and sat back down beside Michael and I smiled at her.

"Thank you. You made the perfect speech."

"I had to. I wanted to make you both proud. She was such an amazing woman Blaze." I smiled at her words, realising she will always be with me. No matter where I am, she will always be in my heart. And maybe that the comfort I needed to move on.
