"Right..."
Izaya mumbled to himself as the memories resurfaced in his train of thoughts. He wondered what really happened to him but that didn't seem to be the biggest question currently playing in his mind;
It was the presence of that particular monster that made his curiousity gone high.
Why had he stay if Izaya had managed to ignore and isolated him? They're still enemies, but why is that stupid protozoan acting as if they're friends?
Maybe he should wake the blonde up; waking him up from his peaceful slumber and annoying him once again.
Or perhaps he should just let him stay that way-
Somehow the second idea looked more appealing than the first one.
Maybe he should try relaxing for a while, but Izaya wasn't going to let his pride down, yet.
There was still too much things to say and do, but perhaps he'll let this unfamiliar warmth and care spread through his chest, lingering it a while longer before throwing it away once he's reached his answer.
And by then Shizuo would be devastated, he knew.
That's exactly what Izaya planned to do-
Or was I?
He mentally slapped himself before lying back down on his bed. This blindness must have made his feelings mixed and freaky without the company of his beloved humans surrounding him, entertaining him.
"Nee, Shizu-chan.." He called out. Hearing no response, he continued, "Why did you stay? I really can't remember a thing yet you're still here. Did something really happen? Why can't I remember anything?"
In the silence, he seeked for an answer. Yet, he was still alone with the curiousity going on within him, letting the answers drift off somewhere else, just like the blonde whose drifting off to his own dreamland.
---
"Did he say anything to you?"
"No, doc. He's been like this since the first time I arrived here,"
"Okay, do tell me if he said anything once he's awake,"
The door clicked as someone exited the room, leaving the blonde and the now awakened raven alone in it.
"Shizu-chan,"
Izaya called out, shocking the bartender, pulling his gaze away from the door towards the flea he so hated but was now in a complicated state with the guy.
"Yeah?"
"What did the doctor say?"
It took a moment for Shizuo to rearrange his words for a suitable answer;
"He asked if you remembered anything and had told me about it,"
The raven's face stayed empty as he gazed out into thin air, struggling for the right words to form. He didn't know if he should whether or not tell the blonde about the dreams he had since the past few days. Some part of him telling him he should but another half denied the idea.
If I were to tell him, would Shizuo be of any help?
"I had a dream,"
The words rolled off his tongue rather easily, making the blonde's feet shuffling nearer to him, closing their gap in an instance.
"About?"
"Myself," Izaya answered.
"You don't have to tell me about it if you're not comfortable to,"
Shizuo said rather lovingly. His soft-spoken voice surprising the informant as a tingle of warmth spread across his fragile self. He had always known Shizuo Heiwajima was a gentle and caring man, but never did he think he would actually be treated this nice by a person who hated him very much.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Izaya changed the topic instantly, wanting to solve the question bugging his head since few days ago.
There was a long pause before the monster spoke again, "Because you are my responsibility since the first time I saw you bleeding and injured on my front door,"
So he's only helping out of that, huh? Somehow the statement made Izaya frown but again, he asked, bolder this time.
"And not because you actually cared about me?"
"What will you say if I said I do care, too?"
Shizuo answered spontaneously in a calm voice. The raven was rather surprised but he unconsciously gave out a sincere smile. A smile signaling he was tired of masking his behaviors in front of the blonde man; a smile that showed surrender towards his own made-up walls and towards his favourite monster's action.
"I'd say you're my guardian from now on,"
