"-will he be okay?"

"We'll try our best-"

Beeeeeeepppppp-

His eyelids drooped again, his conscious slipping away as sleep overcame his tired mind.

---

It was a brand new day.

The blond debt collector had stayed the night before with the raven after his fragile self slipped away into a deep slumber. Shizuo didn't dare to move one bit so he laid on the bed with Izaya sleeping peacefully in his arms.

There wasn't any sign of unpleasant facial expressions carved on the ex-informant's face as he slept; maybe the blond's presence alone had managed to soothe his own feelings, or even his thoughts.

Early in the morning, his boss, Tanaka Tom had called him and asked if he could come to work. He promised to be there in half an hour time, so reluctantly he slowly let go of the unconscious raven, quickly stepping into the bathroom to wash his own face and straighten up his clothes and everything.

He took half a day off yesterday just to take good care of Izaya, so he needed to look more presentable even with the fact that he didn't shower. His workplace today was quite far from the hospital Izaya was staying in, so he needed to be there quick.

Walking out of the bathroom, he spotted the raven slowly waking up, looking around almost-too-frantically as if he had just lost something so important to his dear self.

"What's the matter, Izaya?" Shizuo approached him, deciding not to use the 'flea' nickname for the meantime.

Immediately the raven turned to a direction close to the ex-bartender, "Shizu-chan, I thought you left!" He exclaimed, sounding all too surprised to Shizuo's familiarity.

He couldn't help but chuckle a little upon seeing the raven's behavior. "I'm heading to work now. I promise to come and meet you later after work or during lunch,"

Izaya frowned lightly before looking away with a huff, "Mhm...sure..."

A thought clicked in the raven's mind; why am I acting this way to Shizu-chan? It's Shizu-chan, for God's sake! Izaya, you look just like a high school girl whose sad that his boyfriend is leaving!!

Mentally, he slapped himself with how red his cheeks were burning just from thinking things that way.

The blond got closer to him to gently pat his head, startling the raven a little from his thoughts. "I'll come back soon, Izaya,"

With that, he left as soon as he said those words to the blinded raven, leaving him alone once again.

Izaya stared blankly at the direction of the door for a few moments before snapping his head away and lying back down on the bed, exasperating a long but silent sigh.

Darkness splattered all across his vision as he tried hard to recall the actual image of Shinjuku, of Ikebukuro, of his beloved humans, and most importantly;
Of his beloved monster.

It had only been more than a week but things had started to grow blurry and unclear to him. It's as if the God had finally punished him by letting the dark taking his memories of images away, and far from him.

A cold chuckle escaped his lips. Karma did exist, huh? Silently he nod, finally taking in the toll of his evil deeds. This is a sort of punishment he never thought of experiencing, to be honest. He had thought on getting hit by a car, or killed brutally by his currently ex-enemy, Shizuo Heiwajima, but never in a million years did he thought of losing his most precious and favored sense.

Supposedly God was fair after all.

He had begun to miss the outside world. The air in the hospital was too different compared to the world he was in before; smelt like death in here. The nurse just wouldn't allow him to at least go out to the park, not even when Shizuo was around. He didn't get why. It's not really a big deal, right? And it's good for refreshments to both the brain and his physical.

The feelings of protesting started to bubble up in his chest. His head turned to a side where his walking stick stood, maybe slightly to the side yet his hand searching in the air, finally grasping the stick after a few trials.

Deliberately he got up. The windows were slightly ajar when he reached it. Perhaps Shizuo opened it this morning to allow some air in as if easing the tension out of the room.

He pushed it a little, estimating enough space with the only use of his hand before slowly climbing out of it, silently getting out of this sickening place.

His motives were to set foot on the outside world; to at least feel the presence of his beloved humans lingering around him even for a minute-

Not caring if the nurse or the doctor caught him for doing such forbidden act.
