"Shizu-chan,"
Shizuo blinked in surprise. He was just about to open his mouth to start the conversation, but Izaya's words startled him completely.
He was glad that the raven actually tried to talk to him, so he gave him a small smile despite Izaya's current blindness, and replied-
"Yeah?"
"What brings you here?"
Izaya stayed still, head still hanging up, staring into thin air which was now darkness in his field of vision. His hand clutched the blond's fingers, showing no sign of letting go.
Shizuo shuddered upon feeling the informant's icy fingers on his fingers, slowly trying to soothe him again by rubbing his palm with his thumb in small circles.
"I had a dream about you,"
The sentence instantly made the raven spun his head, looking none-too-directly at him with the lack of one of his favored senses. Waiting, he shifted in the hospital bed.
The blond, being the one who had managed to calm him down, attempted to reach for the raven again. He held him close to his chest, letting him lean against his broad chest, and that soothing heartbeat of a monster he once hated.
"What...did you see...?" Izaya mumbled out the question, clutching tightly to the fabric of the blond's white shirt.
"...someone tried to hurt you,"
There was a long pause before the raven finally willed himself to let go of the ex-bartender. Reluctantly, Shizuo let him go but held his shoulders just in case if Izaya tried to run away, even though he knew he wouldn't be able to do so with his eyesight still absent.
"I-I had the same dream last night..." the informant shook, closing his eyes in an attempt to chase the images away. He didn't want to remember anything that happened, even though he knew it was all his memories.
His deepest memories being laid out upon him.
"I-I heard my own voice...and...and that man's voice...I don't know who it belonged to, but-"
A warm hand touched his left cheek, carressing it in a calming manner as the blond tried to get him out of his fear. He knew Izaya was slowly breaking, but he didn't like seeing the man so fragile.
This was not the Izaya Orihara he once knew; the agile, cocky and arrogant bastard he so hated.
This was the exact opposite; fragile, broken and low with self-esteem-
He needed to set things right again.
Abruptly he hugged the informant one more time.
"You didn't have to tell me about it if you don't want to, Izaya," Shizuo managed to say as he slowly stroke the informant's back.
They stayed that way until Izaya was dozing off to sleep, relaxing against the smooth heartbeat of Ikebukuro's monster.
