Chapter 48

It is now winter break. There is snow everywhere and it's pretty cold out. Today I'm going back home for the holidays.

As I pack the last of my things and put them in my car my phone started ringing in my pocket. I looked at the caller id and it was Ross. I answer the call anyway just to hear strumming of a guitar.

~phone call~

Ross: Climb the stairs to your
apartment
Just to see you holding him
You try to tell me that it's nothing
So I keep coming back again

Ross: I'm sorry.

And he hung up. What the heck?! I zipped up my suitcase and left to the airport.

When I got to California I called Shawn and asked if he could pick me up since I don't have a car. After about 30 minutes he was finally there and we headed to my old house.

"So how is college treating you?" Shawn asks as we were stuck in traffic.

"It's great I met a lot of new people and my grades are better than what they were in high school." I smiled.

"I'm proud of you sis." He reached out for my hand and gave it a light squeeze. 

"Thanks Shawn. How've you guys been?" I asked looking out the window.

"We're good. Sarah and Sabrina haven't been home for a while they actually came back with the band two days ago. I got pretty serious with your friend Casey. We went on a couple of dates and I'm planning on asking her to be my girlfriend tomorrow before we leave to Colorado. sky and Ryland started dating. " He says and I register everything he just threw at me.

"Wait so r5 is back?!" He looked at me confused as to why I asked and nodded his head. "Yeah why?"

"I got a call from Ross this morning and he sang me a song and just hung up." I look down at my lap while playing with the ring on my finger.

"What was the song about?" He furrowed his eyebrows. "It was like a break up song and at the end he said he was sorry and hung up." I sighed, "But anyway congrats on you and Casey getting serious." I smile at my brother as we got home and he parked the car.

"Thanks sis." He said getting out of the car. "Are you excited for Colorado?"

"Actually I am I get to spend my birthday back home." I say excitedly. Shawn smiled and mutter something under his breath but I couldn't quite catch it.

"What was that?" I asked curious.

"Nothing. Hey lets go inside." He opened the door and I was attacked with hugs.

"Syd!! We missed you." my sisters squeal. "I've missed you guys too-"

"Sorry to interrupt. Syd can I talk to you?"' He said and I froze.
