Chapter 24

(Y/n)'s POV

I changed into my uniform and went outside.

"Unfortunately, we'll be riding with the Mukamis today," Reiji exclaimed with a sigh.
"Oh, why?"
"The school requested that we ride together for popularity purposes." That was random. They arrived and we got on.
"Why are you cutting yourself?"
"I like pain," Azusa answered.
"Well, you shouldn't." He just cut himself even more.
"Stop that."
"Why do you care?"
"Do you really expect me to sit here doing nothing while someone gets themselves hurt?" I took the knife away from him but he just took out another one. I took that one away from him and this continued until I had five.
"Seriously? How many knives do you have?!" He took one while I wasn't looking but he accidentally cut me. Everyone stared at me with red, glowing eyes.
"Uhh, (Y/n)? I think you should get off," Saee said.
"Good idea."

I jumped off before any of them could get me. I was left alone...wait, I just realised...now I have to walk to school! Oh great. Ayato appeared in front of me.

"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to get you...unless you want to walk to school. That's fine with me," he replied while smirking.
"No! Thank you for coming to get me!"

I held his hand before he teleported us to school. The girls came up to me. Ayato stood in front of me and glared at them.

"What do you want?" he asked, annoyed.
"We just want to speak to (Y/n) privately."
"Tell her now." They hesitated but still spoke.
"(Y/n), we're sorry. Is there anything we can do to repay you?"
"Not much, let's consider ourselves friends, okay?" They smiled gratefully and nodded before walking away.
"Thank you."
"For what?" Ayato asked.
"For sticking up for me." He blushed in embarrassment.
"Don't say things like that," he said, trying to hide his embarrassment. I giggled. Our next lesson was English.
"Okay class, today you'll be writing a narrative. This is just for fun, write about whatever topic you want."

I smiled, I loved writing stories. I wrote about a young homeless girl getting taken in by a kind lord and raising her as his own. She grew up to be a beautiful lady but has to face some tough challenges. It was about (no.) words. I finished just in time. Next was HPE. I wonder what we would be doing today.

"Listen up, you'll all need to change into your swimmers. We're doing relay races."

When everyone was ready, the teacher picked the teams. Seriously? It had to be boys vs girls? Oh great, I was up against Ayato. All the girls were fangirling over how 'hot' the boys were.

Who was first? Wait, I'm first! Ugh! When the whistle blew, I jumped in and swam to the other end, which was about 40m away. Ayato beat me, he poked his tongue out at me.

The next person jumped in. When we got out of the pool, I punched him lightly. Yui looked scared. I didn't think she knew how to swim.

"Hurry up, Yui, jump in," the teacher instructed.

The girl behind her pushed her in but she didn't come back up. My eyes widened. Ayato jumped in and brought her back up. The girl that pushed her snickered.

"She doesn't know how to swim? Pathetic." I could feel my anger boiling up. I walked up to her.
"Don't you dare insult her again."
"Or what?"
"Or I'll beat you to a pulp."
"I'd like to see you try. You know, I'm a black belt in karate."

Before I could react, she punched my jaw. I fell in the pool. There were girls in there and they were dragging me down. I couldn't use my ice power, nobody could know. They suddenly fed me a bitter liquid. Somebody...help me. I blacked out.

Saee's POV

"(Y/n)!" The girls had come back up but she didn't. Subaru looked mad. He grabbed the girl's hair.
"What did you do?!" The girl looked frightened. Looked like he got his anger issues back.
"N-nothing."
"Then why isn't she coming back up?!" He punched her stomach.
"Subaru! Stop this right now!" the teacher shouted. Ayato had jumped in to grab (Y/n). He came back up but she looked pale. Don't tell me they poisoned her...
"What. Did. You. Give. Her?!"
"Something to make her thirst for blood stronger."
"...what?! Ayato, get away from her! This happened once before and it wasn't good!"

(Y/n)'s POV

I woke up and coughed out water. I felt thirsty, really thirsty. I wanted...blood. I couldn't control it. I saw Ayato. Oh please, no. My body moved on its own. I sank my fangs into his neck. He looked like he was in a lot of pain. Stop! No! I couldn't stop drinking...until someone knocked me out.

Saee's POV

I knocked her out.

"Ayato, are you..." He looked angry. He walked up to the girl that had poisoned her.
"You really want me that badly?"

The girl didn't answer. He drank her blood until she fainted and left. The teacher grabbed Subaru by the ear and left. I tried to hold in my laughter because I knew this wasn't the time to laugh.

I told Shu to take (Y/n) to the infirmary. He didn't so I threatened to kill myself. He sighed and carried her like a sack of potatoes.

"That's not how you're supposed to carry her!"
"I don't care." I sighed in annoyance. Geez, that Shu.

(Y/n)'s POV

~At the mansion~

I was in my room. Huh?

"What happened?" ....Ayato! I ran out of my room, only to bump into Laito.
"What?"
"They told me to look after you." He smiled his usual smile. I ignored him but he grabbed my arm.
"Don't go anywhere now." I sighed and went back into my room. I fell asleep.

~Nightmare~

I was in an abandoned building. Nobody was here but it looked scary. I walked around and gasped. On the floor...was Yui's...Yui's...I couldn't say it. There was someone behind me.

"Would you like to see your friends?" the mysterious person asked.

I nodded hesitantly. He/She held up Saee's head. I screamed. Behind him/her was everyone else. Tears filled my eyes.

"Now it's your turn." I ran but he/she stabbed my stomach...

~Nightmare end~

I woke up with a start. I hugged my knees. It was just a nightmare...they were all safe. Tears fell from my eyes. Subaru came in and saw me. I quickly wiped my tears away.

What happened?" he asked.
"Nothing." He didn't believe me and was waiting for an answer.
"I had a nightmare." He told me to sit on his lap so I did.
"I don't know what happened but everyone's safe," he exclaimed, trying to comfort me. I saw bruises on his hands. He quickly hid it but I grabbed his hand.
"What happened to you?!"
"...the teacher beat me up for hurting a girl." I looked at his hands.
"I'm sorry you had to go through all that." Ayato came in. I ran up to him.
"I'm sorry!" I looked down but he lifted my chin up with his fingers and kissed me.
"*blush* Ayato?" He just smirked.
