Chapter 20

Forever is a long long time when you lost your way- I was listening to Phoenix on my way back to the hotel with coffee. There was a coffee shop right next to our hotel so I thought it would be nice. Everyone was waiting in one room upstairs. All of us were going to an Art Museum for the first half of the day and then at night we are going to the Empire State Building.

“Ugh, why do we have to go to an Art Museum?” Ella whined.

“So you can learn.” James smiled at her. James is one of those guys that can make you enjoy something that you don’t like to do. He can make a boring situation fun. I guess that’s why Ella liked him so much.

“Can we go already?” Melissa shouted.

We went downstairs and passed the circling door. There was a homeless guy standing a few feet away from us, I knew this was my chance. I took out a five dollar bill and gave it to the man, I also gave him my coffee. He was raggedy, lots of green clothes on, and had a lot of facial hair.

“God Bless.” The old man said. I smiled at him, and walked away.

I feel like even if homeless people weren’t religious they would say ‘God Bless’ I didn’t understand.

“Well aren’t you just the angel sent from above.” Nicole said, making everyone else laugh. She had a tendency to make people laugh all the time. Dylan put his arm around her and kissed her on the side of her head. Dylan was also one of those guys you can only dream about, he was taller than most girls, dark hair, dark eyes, scruff, and of course a nice body.

‘Good things come to people who wait’, I think if you don’t go looking for love it will find you.

“Are we there yet?” Allie said annoyed. She hated to walk, it was also cold so I can see why she was whining.

“Almost, I think.” Melissa said. She was in charge of the map, obviously she wasn’t very confident on where we were. “Take a left at this crosswalk”

We did what she said and walked left, I liked how in New York the street signs automatically turned instead of pressing a button. Anyways, we kept walking and walking and walking. I think we walked for about an hour more than we should have.

“We are officially lost”, Nick said looking at Melissa.

“We just have a broken map” Melissa said laughing at herself.

“I am hungry” Ella turned to everyone, hoping people would agree with her.

“Let’s get something to eat and figure out where to go” Aaron said compromising the two together.

We turned the corner where there was a hole in the wall café. We sat and got some hot chocolate to warm ourselves. Ella got a sandwich and chips, she shared with James.

“We are lost, do you know where the Art Museum is?” Melissa asked our waiter.

“Honey, there are a lot of Art Museum’s in New York.” the older lady with a New York accent said to her. Melissa gave her the brochure we had. “Oh you are about 30 minutes from this place. I suggest getting a taxi.”

Everyone looked at Melissa with death stares. “Oh shut up” she looked back at them. We eventually left the café and tried to catch a cab. Finally a van cab pulled up and we opened the sliding door. We look at the driver in excitement, we knew what was about to happen.
