Chapter 29

“Costume party at The Mansion at 12am.” Ella read off as she was looking at the flyer in her hand. We were all sitting at the dinner table eating breakfast. The flyer she got was put under out door this morning along with our mail. “So what are you guys gonna be?” she said looking up from the paper.

“I think I wanna go as a pirate..” Melissa said as she took a bite of her cereal. 

“What are you going trick or treating?” Nicole said laughing at her on joke.

“Shut up, I just like pirates.” Melissa came back at her. 

“I want to go as a bunny.” I said, I got out of my chair to wash my bowl out in the sink. “Ever since Mean Girls, bunnies became cool.” I added.

“That is so zen.” Melissa said.

“What...?” Ella said looking at her dumbfounded.

“I don’t know, I am trying to make zen happen.” Melissa said laughing.

“Whatever, anyways the party!” Ella said shaking her head.

“I am not going, Dylan is coming over for the night.” Nicole said sipping her drink.

“Lame.” I said to her walking back over to the table.

“Lets just go to the party store today and find stuff.” Ella said getting up to get ready.

“I have class, I will meet you guys there.” I said to them, I walked over to the table where my keys and bag were. 

I took my car to class, I parked in the side parking lot. When I got in class, Justin was already there. I put my stuff on the small table, and sat down next to him. 

“So are you coming to my party tonight?” He said as he looked over.

“I am. We are going to a party store after this to get some costumes.” I told him, taking out my laptop.

“Good, my costume is a surprise.” he said looking at the professor.

I typed up some notes, and before I knew it class was over. I grabbed my stuff, said good-bye to Justin and drove my car to the party store. When I got there Melissa and Ella were already there.

“So before you got here, I found this” Ella held up a Barbie doll outfit. I was a leather pink, short dress. There were white pumps to go with it. “I also want a blonde wig” she went on. The look on her face was so happy. 

“You are gonna get all the guys tonight Ella.” I told her, I walked over to the costume rack and started searching.

“Hey Cara, I found this for your outfit!” Melissa said from another rack of outfits. She pulled it out, it was a white crop top, it had white fur on the top. “You definitely have to try it on.” she put it in a pile.

I was still searching, I found white short shorts. They looked like underwear, but longer. “Found something else!” Ella shouted. she threw whatever it was in the pile. We finally finished looking, and now we had to try on the outfits.

“You go first Cara.” Melissa said to me. I walked into the dressing room with the bunny outfit. I put on the shorts, the crop top, bunny ears, Bunny tail, and some white furry boots. “I look ridiculous.” I said from the room.

I walked out the dressing room, “You look hot” Ella said looking me up and down. 

“Yeah you are definitely wearing that.” Melissa said. 

“Whatever you guys.” I changed back into my other clothes and put the outfit in a bag. 

After everyone else tried on their clothes, we went to the check out line. Ella had the Barbie outfit. I was the Bunny, and Melissa was the pirate. She wasn’t a dumb five year old pirate though, she was a hot pirate. She was going to get some hot guys tonight for sure. Ella and Melissa both.

“Lets get ready for this shin-dig” Melissa said, Ella gave her a weird look. Melissa was always coming up with weird words and phrases that no one else said.

We got back to the apartment, we had some food and changed into our outfits. “To The Mansion!” Melissa yelled. Everyone at our college called it ‘The Mansion’ because it was the biggest frat house in the college. It just got the name on its own. 

“Do you know if Nick is going to be here?” Ella asked as we were walking down the street.

“No, I hope he isn’t. Nick and Justin in the same room is awkward.” I said looking at Ella.

We all kept walking, we saw Tiffany walking on the other side of the road. We tried to hide ourselves, but it didn’t really work.

“Hey gals.” Tiffany said with a snotty tone. She walked toward us.

“What do you want Tiffany?” Melissa asked in an annoyed voice.

“Just wanted to make sure that Cara stays away from Nick. There will be problems with us if you go near him. Oh wait.... there already are.” she said bratty. She was one of those stuck up Cheerleaders you see in movies. 

“Maybe you should stay away from my friends and stop black mailing people. You are a bitch, Nick doesn’t actually want you.” I said, I didn’t know what came over me. I was just sick of her treating us like her puppies.

She gave us a death stare, she came up to my face and said, “Now there are real problems. Watch your back tonight.” She walked away and we just kept walking.

We finally got to The Mansion, there was a guard at the door. He was only making sure everyone that attended the party had a costume on. We all walked in and there, someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around and a guy with a Prince Charming outfit was in front of me. “Who are you?” I asked. He pulled the mask he had on, off. “Justin?!?” I said looking at him.

“Yep!” he put the mask back on. 

“You look awesome” I said looking at him up and down.

“You look hot!” he shouted, trying to talk louder than the music.

“Ella and Melissa picked it out...” I said in shame.

He smiled and put his arm in a tea cup shape, I put my arm through his and we walked. 

Ella invited James, so they were tagging along with us. Melissa was mingling with some cute british guy that was by the bar. We walked into the living room to sit down, there was already a lot of people in there but we found a spot. 

“Hey I am going to go to the bathroom, where is it?” I asked Justin as I got up.

“Upstairs, down the hall and the second left.” He said smiling.

I walked up the stairs and down the hall, I heard a mumbling coming from one of the rooms. I thought somebody was just having a good time. Then I heard, “Help!” I wasn’t sure which room is was coming from. 

I have seen too many scary movies to yell, ‘Hello’ or ‘Is anyone there’. So I just walked around. I opened one of the door where I thought the sound was coming from. Then I heard it again, “Help!” I walked down the hall more, it was getting closer. I opened a door to the right and saw someone. They were tied to a huge dresser, with tape on their mouth that had been ripped off. I couldn’t believe who I saw. It couldn’t be.
