Chapter 17: Don't Let Him Down

Saito POV

Jumping awake I sat up rigid looking for Kazama. Hold up, I'm at home? There was a knock at my door, "Hajime? Are you awake yet sweetie?" Oh yeah, my mothers home. "Yes." I said quietly, rubbing my tender neck. Turning my head I looked at the mirror on my wardrobe door.

"Damn it." There were bruises up my neck, hickies is probably a more accurate term for the disgusting purple marks dotting my skin. "Good morning darling!" My mother came through the door, her make up heavily applied? Her suit on, carrying a tray? "You made me breakfast?" I said utterly confused. She nodded, handing it to me and sitting on the edge of my bed.

Her lips moved ever so slightly as though she wanted to speak, her eyes kept glancing from my eyes to my neck. "I realise I have bruises on my neck mother." I said while eating my toast quickly. It was slightly....black.

"Can you please just say what is on the tip of your tongue?" I said, annoyed at her hovering. She sighed heavily, "Why didn't you tell me you are gay Hajime?" She said and I choked on my orange juice. She jumped up from my spluttering as I wiped my mouth, my face red. "I-I'm n..." I can't really say in not since Souji. "I didn't know I was?" Is probably a more accurate answer.

"If you aren't sure why don't you not test the waters? Just go out with a nice girl and forget about this confusing time then?" She said looking at my neck, not my eyes. "What?" I said. Forget these confusing times? Really mother.

"No, I'm happy. I'm not changing my relationship with Souji." Not that I know what our relationship is, it's more than friends that's for sure.

She sighed, brushing down her perfectly clean skirt and standing straight. "I don't want you with that boy Hajime." She said sharply, "Mother-" she cut me off. "No. Am I clear? He is a bad influence, look at those dirty marks on your neck. They look horrid and you can't just expect me to let you, you just let you..." She struggled to finish her rant.

"Expect you to what? Let me be happy? For once in my life I'm happy, I'm not alone. You can't let me feel happy and wanted for once?" I asked honestly and she shook her head. "That isn't what I'm saying."

"Yes it is." I said and stood up, moving the tray of unfinished food. "Thank you for making me breakfast but I need to go to school." I said calmly, heading towards my door. "Hajime I'm not letting this slide, it's not normal for a boy and another boy to...well." She shook her head. "It's not normal and I won't allow it."

"I don't care what you allow." I said calmly. Abruptly she jerk her head towards me, "Excuse me?!" Her voice raised. "I said I do not care what you allow Mother. I am happy, I am not alone and I shall continue my relationship with Souji as his tutor and friend. You will not interfere, you'll be gone soon anyway." I said and closed the bathroom door, turning the shower on.

Hearing her outraged scream made me chuckle. Actually it made me want to see Souji even more. Hey Souji found me yesterday after Kazama assaulted me, did he leave me home then just leave? Well by the sounds of it my mother wouldn't have let him stay anyway. Just go back to your business, woman.

Arriving st school I was later than usual, Souji was waiting at the gate and stood up when he saw me. He had a pouting expression on, like a small child, "What's the matter?" I asked. "Kaoru won't let me through and I au net seen Kazama so I can't beat the living shit out of him yet."

"You will not touch Kazama unless you want suspended which could lead to expulsion and come through with me now." I motioned for him to follow me.

"Kaoru-kun, why won't you let this student through the gate?" I demanded and the boy jumped. "S-Saito-Senpai! I-he was late!" He whined.

"I was here twenty minutes before the bell, you just refused to let me through and made me late shrimp." Souji glared behind me. I elbowed him and he gasped. "Hey!" I shushed him. "He wa here on time, you better give me a valid excuse or you shall be suspended from the student council until further notice." I said serious.

"He wasn't wearing the correct uniform?" The boy tried and I shook my head. "Kaoru go to class before I suspend you myself." I said and he bolted from the gate. "Hey I like this demanding Hajime." Souji poked my side and I jumped. He grabbed my collar quickly and kissed me suddenly.

Pushing him back I frowned.

"Hey what's the deal?" He said offended, "Thought we agreed this was okay?" He asked annoyed. "I-I'm sorry it just..." The way he grabbed me reminded me of yesterday. "Don't...grab me so roughly please." I continued to frown and walked towards the main doors.

"Saito?" He said confused. "I'll see you later, for tutoring..." I trailed off and shook my head, why did I do that?

Sitting in class I continued to frown through my work. "Saito?" Harada-Sensei called me, looking up he raised his eyebrows, "You okay?" He asked and I nodded. "Yes Sensei." I replied and he nodded, continuing to look at me through out the class.

"Saito-San are you alright? You seem to be in a foul mood." Chizuru said hesitantly and I nodded. "I'm alright, just something happens and I'm trying to process it in my head."

Souji POV

When I see that bastard I will get him, I'll get him so good he'll have to eat through a straw.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I heard Hajime's voice telling me to calm down. "Alright class dismissed, Souji wait behind please." Shinpatchi said. Whilst the class filtered out, I thought about how I could hurt Kazama.

"Souji."

"Huh? Yes sir?" I said and went up to his desk. "Is everything alright? You seem to very dark over there. Something happen between you and Saito-Kun?" He asked but I shook my head. "Not between us sir."

"So there is someone. What happened?" He asked. "Hajime got hurt and I'm gonna kill the person who did it." I said casually and Shinpatchi rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Souji please please dont get yourself in trouble. Think of Saito."

Suddenly the hate I held for Kazama vanished and my feelings for Hajime flooded my system, "Hajime?" I said confused and Shinpthi nodded.

"Think of how hard is trying for you, he's helping you and receiving no reward. He believes in you Souji, if you start fightin again you will loose all the credits that have tarted to build up on your name." He said looking straight at me.

"You're trying your damnedest and I can see it, all your teachers can. We are all routing for you to succeed Souji." He took off his thin rimmed glasses and tightened his white bandana, "Especially Saito. He believes in you more than you do. Don't let him down."

Don't let him down....
