"Well. ." She started
"Yeah. Well? C'mon mom! Spill it."
"Okay. Peter was reassigned to London. And I found a job there. It offers a good pay and I also found a good place to stay, for the three of us to stay. Actually, everything is set up and we're ready to bound there." Peter is my mom's boyfriend.
My dad died when I was 16. He was shot by an envious co-worker in his office. We were broke and don't have any money left. We spent the rest of the money for my father's hospital bills. But, he never made it.
Gladly, 5 days after the burial of my father, my mom found a work at a grocery store. She was paid per day but working here in Korea with a low-paying job is not enough. Especially, when I was still studying in high school.
Few months after, my mom met Peter. He is an office worker of an international company. He is nice and helped me with my studies. He acts like a father to me but there are times when he is so annoying because of his strictness.
"But mom! I have a work here. I can just stay here. I'm already 21 for Pete's sake." I tried arguing with her. I really love my working. And so far, they are giving me a good pay.
"You have no place to stay anymore. I sold this house already. London is a nice play to stay my dear. A work is already ready for you."
"But. ."
"No more buts. My decision is final. We're leaving tomorrow afternoon. So say your goodbyes to your friends and office workers. I already sent your resignation letter to your office. Peter handled everything." Then, she walks back to her room and finished up packing the remaining things. I know I can't say no to my mom. But I really wanted to persuade her. I am somehow irritated with Peter for dragging us into this.
"Yedin. . Everything will be fine. We'll keep in touch. There are things we call Skype, facebook, yahoo and whatnot." She hugged me and continues to pat my back. I can't belive I will be leaving my bestfriend here, too.
"Thank you Hanna, but what about. . ." I was cut off by Hanna
"That's in the past Yedin. He hurt you. He broke up with you. Move on girl!" And that is when I realized that it surely was in the past.
Gosh! I feel like crying. I grew up here in South Korea and I had my firsts here. I have unsettled things but thinking in the brighter side maybe this is for the best. Just maybe. .
