Chapter 22

Vale's POV

I am thankful for this call but I am somewhat worried because the call is coming from the nanny who is taking care of my daughter.

"Hello? What is it Nanny?"

"Ma'am. . ." I heard her sobbing. Oh god. Please don't make my daughter's life in danger.

"Please tell me Nanny. You're making me worried."

"You're daughter is having a high fever and we're here at the hospital. The doctor advised us that we need to confine your daughter. They're doing some tests right now."

I suddenly hold onto the glass window beside me. I can't see my daughter suffering from pain. Good Lord please save my daughter from any harm. I'll do everything.

"Okay Nanny. Please watch over my daughter. I'll be on my way. Please text where the hospital is."

I ended the call at once and headed back to the table where we are supposed to have lunch.

"Should we order now Ms. Vale?" Asked by the person with annoying voice, ugly eyes and odd shaped mouth. I swear, I wasn't looking at his face but I certainly that is how his facial features looks like.

"I'm sorry Yedin, Mr. West but I really have to go now. There is some emergency I needed to attend to."

Yedin looked at me with confused eyes and she was about to open her mouth, instead she just nods and left the talking to her boss.

"What's wrong with your company now? I bet the emergency is something really important than this lunch."

I rolled my eyes at him knowing how his tantics work with girls. Gosh I want to stay away from him.

"I would really want to take care of things which are not even important just to get away from this lunch." I told him and he just gave me a smirk. Tell me how to erase smirking in his actions.

"Ms. Vale? Mr. West? Is there something wrong with the weather today?" If today was a different one, I would laugh at her joke.

"I'm sorry Yedin. I really have to go now, my driver is waiting for me. I'll see you soon."

I didn't wait for her to reply, instead I ran, literally run to the parking lot and got inside of my car. I instructed my driver to the hospital address given by my Nanny.

Yedin's POV

I am really confused why are these two CEOs having a cold conversation. Did something happen to them while I was at the comfort room? I doubt they know each other beforehand since Ms. Vale is eager to meet Mr. West.

Now that I think about it, I haven't mentioned their names to each other. Ugh. Stupid.

No. No. No. They didn't ask me in the first place, so not my fault.

"Mr. West? Should we head back to the office now that your lunch meeting is cancelled?"

Please say no. I am starving and the foods here tastes like heaven. I silently thought in my mind and keeping my hopes up.

"I agree that my lunch meeting is unexpectedly cancelled. . ." What?! Okay. I'll accept whatever your decision is. ". . . But, I certainly know that my lunch break is still going on. Besides, I can hear your tummy already."

*Sigh*

Thank goodness. There's an ounce kindness in my boss' heart.

He called the waiter to write our orders. I picked a Baby Back Ribs with Rice and Mashed potato with gravy. Yes. I am hungry and I'll eat these much. For our dessert, I chose oreo and cream cheesecake and red velvet cheesecake. My favorites.

"Yedin? Could you do me a favor?"

"Uhm. What is it Sir?"

"Gather me some information regarding Ms. Vale Hustens. I'll need it asap."

For what? There is something fishy really going on.

"For what reason, Sir?"

"If I tell you, will you also tell me what happened with your encounter with Mr. Joshua Lee?"

Oh God. Why does it make me tear up every time I hear that name.

Am I ready to spill out my past to my boss? Or I should keep it inside me? While I am having a debate within myself whether to tell him or not. He suddenly talks.

"I am here to listen as a friend Yedin, not as your boss." Well, I think I was waiting for him to say that to give me the cue to start spilling whatever happened before.

Flashback

If not because of my officemates I won't be dragged here in the RestoBar. We're doing a celebration for the promotion of our Managing Director.

"Please excuse me, I'll just go to the comfort room." I told them.

"Sure. Be back asap, ayt?"

While I was inside the cubicle, I heard some girls talking outside. Not that I should be bothering to listen but something caught my attention.

"That dude looks so handsome. And his friends too. They look so yummy!" - Girl 1

"What was his name again? Joshua right? I wonder if he is taken. I hope he is not or else I'll have him in my bed at once." - Girl 2

Gross. Bed? Are you desperate woman? I said to myself.

"I heard he is not. Or maybe he is about to break up with her. I really don't know but we should head back now." - Girl 3

When I didn't hear the clicking of their heels, I decided to come out and washed my hands.

What if I wander for a while? It won't hurt, right? I promise to myself it'll only take me about 5 minutes.

"Joshua. . I am so proud of you for letting a girl fell for you."

"I - I know. Ha ha she's so easy. After courting her for days, she said yes."

"Did you break up with her already?"

"Not yet. But i am going to break up with her tomorrow."

That voice is from someone so dear to me. When I peek to see who it was, tears starting come out from my eyes. I can't believe what I heard. But I'll let him explain tomorrow.

*Following day*

Ring ring ring.

Is this the day of our break up? I answered my phone.

"Isha? I'm heading somewhere later and I'll be back tomorrow lunch. Sorry can't meet up with you today but let's have lunch together tomorrow? Alright?"

"Uhmm. Shouldn't you be saying anything aside from that?"

"Nothing I can think of. Oh. You mean, i love you?"

You love me?! Are you freaking sure when I heard that you want to break up with me?

"Really? Well, you better get going. I'll see you tomorrow lunch."

"I'll call you again later. This is something important. I love you."

He ended the call and I started crying. Why does he keeps on saying I love you when he doesn't mean anything about it.

Present

"Is that all about it Yedin?"

"No. There is more but I would really want to eat the foods before my eyes first."

"Uh. Yeah. Sorry. Okay let's start eating."
