Catching Up with Family

"So why'd you never marry?" Night Light asks Helix.
"Well, I did," replies Helix, "but then my wife died from colic and my son was put up for adoption."
"What's your son's name?" Asks Twilight Velvet.
"His name is Raven Wing," replies Helix. "His cutie mark is two Raven feathers. I miss him. I only put him up for adoption because with his mom dead I was incapable of raising him myself." Helix is in tears. "I wish I could find some way to see him again."
"I bet Ferris, Rara's adopted son would know where he is," whispers Twilight Velvet to her husband. Night Light nods in agreement. The three of them are off to visit Rara, Spotlight, Spectacle and Ferris Wheel.

The three catch the next train to Canterlot out of The Crystal Empire. They arrive at Rara's around noon and are greeted with open hooves by Spotlight. Ferris is behind him as is Spectacle.
"Hello Night Light, Velvet, come in," says Spotlight. They follow him inside.
"What do you want?" Spotlight inquires.
"To talk to Ferris about something," speaks up Helix.
"Then I'll leave you four to it," says Spotlight as he heads downstairs to his music studio.

"What do you want to talk to me for?" Asks a confused and puzzled Ferris.
"While you were at the orphanage, did you know a young colt named Raven Wing?" Asks Helix.
"Yeah," replies Ferris Wheel, "he was adopted soon after I was though. Adopted out to a nice couple named Donkella and Murphy. They live in an apartment just down the block and around the corner. They love company."
"Can you take us to them?" Asks Helix.
"Sure," replies Ferris, "I go over there to play all the time. In fact, I was just getting ready to head over."
"Great!" Replies an excited Helix. They all head over to Donkella and Murphy's.

At Donkella and Murphy's, the adults sit and talk things over while the boys play.
"So what you're saying sir," states Donkella, "is that you're Raven Wing's birth father."
"Yes," replies Helix. "Can I please see my son?"
"Of coarse you can," responds Murphy.

When Raven Wing is called over, he recognizes his dad (that is Helix) immediately and runs into his arms and hugs him. "I've missed you daddy," says Raven Wing. "I thought you were dead, where's mommy?"
"I'm alive yes," replies Helix, "but your mom died of colic many, many years ago now. I'm sorry."
"It's okay," replies Raven, "I kind of figured she was dead but deep down inside I thought that maybe you'd come back for me and now you have."
"I just came to say hello son," replies Helix, "these nice donkeys are your family now."
"But daddy," Raven says sniffling and in tears, "I want to come back to you."
"But I'd never be able to supply for you or myself, it's better this way," replies Helix who is also now in tears. "Goodbye son."
"Goodbye daddy," says Raven with a hug before heading up to his room in tears. He feels that his dad has abandoned him and for good reason too. After all, his dad never was there to see him grow up for the majority of his life. There's nothing no pony or no donkey can do to cheer him up right now. That's clear to see, so Ferris takes Night Light, Helix, and Velvet back to the train station for their ride back to the Crystal Empire for the rest of their family vacation up there with Cadance and Shining.
