The Rest of Christmas
George’s POV
I was waiting in the Gryffindor common room for Aria. She was my date to the Yule Ball and was still getting ready. My fellow Gryffindors were leaving the tower in their formal attire and Fred had just left with Angelina Johnson. I waited impatiently on the couch in my dress robes that matched almost everyone else’s except Ron’s. I was glad Mum didn’t send me ones like his. His was just ghastly. I watched Hermione walk through the room in a blue-ish dress and she looked different. She was prettier than usual.
“Hermione!” I said and she turned to look at me. “Is Aria ready yet?”
“She’s putting on her shoes.” Hermione said and walked out of the room.
I sighed and started pacing the room. I just wanted to get downstairs already. I noticed someone standing at the end of the stairs and I looked to see it was Aria. I had forgotten what was going on with just one look at her. She was in a short purple dress that had a purple belt around the waist and two flowers on the left strap. Her black hair was curled and her makeup was light. She smiled at me with her full lips and I just stared at her. That’s all I could do. She looked amazing. No. She looked beautiful.
“George, sorry I’m late.” She said and came over to me. “You wouldn’t believe these girls over this dumb ball. I wanted to get in and out of the shower but I stood in line for an hour.” She sighed and looked me in the eyes. “Well, you look nice. Are we the last ones here?”
I nodded and found the mind to say something. “Yeah. Everyone else is down at the ball.”
“Let’s go then.” She stuck out her hand and I took it.
We could hear the band playing from the fourth floor and a grin crossed Aria’s face. I smiled down at her and we finished walking to the Great Hall. Some people were already dancing but it was the formal, traditional dance of the ball. I saw Fred out there with Angelina and Ginny was with Neville. I looked down at Aria and said, “Just to warn you, I’m a bad dancer.”
She laughed and clutched my hand. “I know.” She pulled me out to the dance floor and we started dancing.
She was a great dancer and I must’ve stepped on her toes a hundred times. She didn’t even complain, though. The dance was soon over and all of us sat down at a table to eat. Fred, Angelina, Lee, and Katie Bell sat at the table with Aria and I and soon there was food on there for us. While we ate, the Weird Sisters were setting up to play and everyone was getting excited. As everyone finished, the tables disappeared and the band started playing. Fred and Angelina left rather quickly to dance and I led Aria to there. We danced for a while then Fred wanted us to do something with a Ministry guy but he shooed us away. I went back over to Aria and she looked up into my eyes.
“Let’s go.” She said.
“Go where?” I asked curiously.
“Walk around.”
She grabbed my hand and we headed for the door along with Fred and Angelina. They must’ve been going off to snog. We walked around the castle and out to the Clock Tower Courtyard. It was snowing and cold so I took off my robe and put it around Aria. She smiled and we started walking around. There were some people out there walking around as well and they didn’t pay any attention to us.
