George’s Confession
I was standing entrance hall with the entire school watching Fred and George. They had just turned the corridor into a swamp and I had told them not to do it but they never listened to me. Sure, I loved their pranks but they didn’t have to do this. “So!” Dolores Umbridge said triumphantly and I looked up to see her standing on the stairs a couple stairs up from Harry. I wondered where he was but then forgot about it. She looked at them and looked like she was looking at prey. “So… you think it amusing to turn a school corridor into a swamp?”
“Pretty amusing, yeah.” Fred said and looked at her without fear.
Argus Filch went closer to Umbridge and looked happy. “I’ve got the form, Headmistress.” He said and waved a piece of parchment. “I’ve got the form and I’ve got the whips waiting… Oh, let me do it now…”
My heart jumped and I looked at Umbridge. “Very good, Argus.” She said. “You two are about to learn what happens to wrongdoers in my school.”
I was going to go out there with them but Fred shot me a smile then looked at Umbridge. “You know what? I don’t think we are.” He said and looked at George. “George, I think we’ve outgrown full-time education.”
“Yeah, I’ve been feeling that way myself.” George agreed.
“Time to test our talents in the real world, d’you reckon?” He asked.
“Definitely.” George smiled.
I ran over to them and asked, “What are you doing?”
“Leaving. We’ll send you an owl.” George told me.
“Accio Brooms!” They said together.
There was a loud crash somewhere in the distance and I moved out of the way. Fred George’s broomsticks were coming down the corridor and stopped in front of the twins. “We won’t be seeing you.” Fred said to Umbridge and swung his leg over his broom.
“Yeah, don’t bother to keep in touch.” George said and got on his.
Fred looked around at all of us and said, “If anyone fancies buying a Portable Swamp, as demonstrated upstairs, come to number ninety-three, Diagon Alley—Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Our new premises!” He cheered.
“Special discounts to Hogwarts students who swear they’re going to use our products to get rid of this old bad.” George added and pointed at Umbridge. “And you.” He lifted my chin and smiled.
“STOP THEM!” Umbridge yelled but it was too late.
Fred and George kicked off from the floor, shooting fifteen feet into the air, the iron peg that held the brooms to the walls in Umbridge’s office swung dangerously below and I moved out of the way. Fred looked at Peeves, the poltergeist, and said, “Give her hell from us, Peeves.”
Peeves saluted him and Fred and George wheeled about and everyone applauded as they left out the open front doors.
I felt someone touch my face and I pushed their hand away. They touched my face again and I groaned. “Go away.” I said tiredly and kept my eyes close.
