George’s POV

The battle was over and everyone was gathered in the Great Hall. Everyone except the injured and their families who had gone to the hospital wing. I was sitting in the Great Hall by myself; staring at Fred’s lifeless body. How could he die and leave me here? We were going to die together but I was still here. Alive and alone. “George?” Ginny’s voice said and I looked up at my sister. “He wouldn’t want you to be staring at him.”

“I don’t care what he would want.” I said a little too harshly. “He left me here alone.”

Ginny sat down and touched my arm. “You’re not alone. You have me, our family, the Stevens, Lee, Harry, Hermione, Aria, and a whole list of others.”

I sighed. “Then why do I feel alone?”

“Because you’re letting yourself. You should be with the ones you love.”

I looked at Fred then back at Ginny. “I have to see Aria.”

I stood up and walked passed everyone on my way out of the Great Hall. Aria was in the hospital wing unconscious from the rubble she fell on. Fred had saved her from death though by taking the rubble that was falling to her. I didn’t blame him. I would’ve too. We both loved her bust she didn’t know that. And I was going to tell her; even if she was unconscious. I made my way up to the hospital wing and walked through the door. The injured were on beds and were being taken care of by their families and Madam Pomfrey. I saw Mr. and Mrs. Stevens sitting by a bed and walked over them. Aria’s eyes were closed and her skin was covered in dirt and dried blood. Her clothes were dull and torn but she still managed to look beautiful. Mrs. Stevens looked up at me and smiled. “Hey, George.” She said.

“Hi.” I said. “How is she?”

“Madam Pomfrey says she’ll be fine. She just needs to wake up.”

            “She will, right?” I worried.

Mr. Stevens nodded. “Yeah. Just give her time.”

“Can you watch her for us?” Mrs. Stevens asked. “We want to go see how everyone is doing.”

I nodded. “Sure.” They got up and headed out of the room and I sat on the bed by Aria. I took her hand and rubbed it. “Hey, Air.” I said; not too loud so that anyone but her could hear me. If she was awake, that is. “I need you to do something for me. Please wake up. I feel so alone here. Except when I’m with you. So please wake up. I love you, Aria. I have since the Yule Ball. And I know you can’t hear but I just want to tell you, some part of you, that I love you.” She squeezed my hand but her eyes didn’t open. But I felt like she did hear me. Even if it was some part of her subconscious, she heard me. I smiled at that fact and squeezed her hand back.

I opened my eyes and stared at the wall. It was the first of March and a week since I’d last seen Aria. She told me that Ben said that if I couldn’t control my feelings for her, she couldn’t see me again. And since she wanted to make things work with Ben, she thought it’d be best if we didn’t see each other. Just when I got her back, I lost her again. I could feel that she was on the verge of loving me but nothing I did got her to. Ben always seemed to take her away. He was ruining everything. I hated him. I clenched my jaw and sat up. Fred was sitting on his bed and smiled at me. “Morning.”
