The Letter to Fred

It was a nice, hot, sunny day in summer and Fred, George, and I were sitting in the front yard of the Burrow. I was lying in the twins’ shadows to escape the sun and I had my eyes closed. I was actually really comfortable and was almost asleep when Fred said, “I’m bored.”

“Of course you are.” I looked up at him and smiled.

“Well, if we did something other than sitting here, I wouldn’t be.” He poked my side and I jumped.

“Stop.” I laughed. “We can do something.”

            “Like what?” George asked curiously.

“Tag.” Fred and stood up quickly. “I’m it.”

George and I shot each other a look then quickly ran into the field in opposite directions. I ran as fast as I could through the field and tried to get away from Fred. I knew he was going to come after me before he’d ever go after George. I finally thought I was far enough away from Fred so I ducked down in the grass to hide.

“Aria, I know you ran this way.” Fred said and he sounded close.

I quickly got up and ran away from where I thought he was. I soon looked behind me to see if Fred was coming and I suddenly ran into something. I fell to the ground and groaned along with what I had run into. I looked to see George and he looked up into my eyes. “Bloody hell, Aria. If you wanted to be on top of my, all you had to do was say so.” He smiled.

“Like you would’ve let me.” I joked and went to get up but George grabbed me.

He flipped us around and he was now on top of me. “You’re right. I like to be on top.”

I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine. He moved the hair out of my eyes and his hand caressed my face. He brought his face closer to mine and our lips were almost touching when Fred said, “You’re it.”

I opened my eyes and took a deep breath. That was an actual memory of mine that I had forgotten. I hadn’t realized that George and I had so many almost kisses. I sighed and closed my eyes as I rolled over on the bed. I felt something cold against my face and I opened my eyes. Fred smiled at me and said, “Good morning, Air.”

“Good morning, Ghostly Godmother.” I smiled and stretched.

            “Oh, you’re very funny.”

“I try.” I grinned more and sat up.

“So, what are we going to do today?” Fred appeared in front of me.

“What? You didn’t have fun last night so we have to make it a day thing to?” I crossed my arms.

“Tagging along on your date with Benjamin wasn’t fun.”

“Tell me about it. You were complaining every two seconds.”

“That’s because he is so boring.” He yawned.
