Taking a Break
Ben and I were running up my stairs as fast as we could. We were laughing and happy that we had the house to ourselves. We reached my bedroom and I kissed Ben passionately. We both grinned in the kiss and I pushed him onto the bed. I got on him and kissed his lips. I sat up and lifted my shirt off then looked back down at Ben. He lifted his shirt off and exposed his amazing abs. I looked at his face and it turned to George. I didn’t care though. I grinned and touched his face and kissed his lips more passionately than I did Ben.
My eyes flew open and I took a deep breath. So much for not having those dreams about George. I sighed and sat up in my bed. George was still the only thing I could think about but not that way. I wondered if he sent me an owl yet. I got up and ran down the stairs to the kitchen where my parents were eating breakfast.
“Any mail for me?” I asked; trying to not sound hopeful.
“No.” Dad answered and I saddened.
“Do you want some eggs?” Mum asked and I shook my head.
“No. I’m just gonna go in the sitting room and watch TV.” I turned and started out of the room.
“Aria, you hate watching television.” Dad said.
“I know.” I walked out of the kitchen and into the sitting room.
I turned on the TV and flipped through channels. This is why I hated watching TV. There was never anything on and most of the shows weren’t worth watching. I settle on a cartoon and relaxed into the couch. My mum came in and sat down by me. She looked into my eyes and asked, “Aria, what’s going on?”
“Nothing.” I lied and watched the TV.
“Is everything ok with you and Ben?”
“Yes.”
“Did you two fight or something?”
I groaned. “Mum, everything is fine between Ben and I. It’s George I’ve been fighting with.”
“Oh.”
I looked at her. “I sent him an owl last night and he hasn’t sent one back. I think he’s really mad at me.”
She sighed. “You two will work it out, Princess. I’m heading over to the Burrow now if you want to come with.”
“He probably doesn’t want to see me.”
“Then come to see Ron and Harry.”
“Ok.” I gave in. “I’ll be down in ten minutes.”
I got up and walked back upstairs to my room. I knew I was going to see George but didn’t know how he was going to react to seeing me. I hoped he wasn’t too mad and that we could makeup while I was there. I hated fighting with him. I quickly changed into a pair of jeans and a red sweater then grabbed my wand and put on my shoes before going back downstairs to meet my mum. We apparated out of the house and into the sitting room of the Burrow where George, Harry, and Ron were sitting. My eyes went straight to George and he glared at me. He got off the couch and stormed upstairs and I sighed as I sat by Harry on the couch.
“I’m guessing he’s still mad.” I said and Harry nodded.
“Yeah.” He said.
“But he did get your owl last night.” Ron added. “He didn’t read it though.”
I sighed again. “I didn’t want him to be so mad. I can’t help that I’m not in love with him.”
“We know, Aria.” Harry touched my arm. “He’ll be fine soon.”
“We hope.” Ron said and Harry elbowed him. “Blood hell, Harry.”
“We’ll go talk to him.” Harry stood up. “Come on, Ron.”
The boys went upstairs and I sat in the sitting room by myself. I hoped they could get George to talk to me. If not, I was going to march right up there and force him to. Even if that meant fighting with him for a while. I sat there and waited for what seemed like hours before Harry and Ron came back downstairs. They both shook their heads at me and I groaned. I got off the couch and went upstairs; straight to George’s room. I walked in there and looked into his eyes.
“So you’re just gonna be mad at me for the rest of your life?” I asked angrily.
“Yeah.” He stood up and stood at his desk.
I sighed and went over to him. “George, please. What did you do with my letter? It explained everything.”
“I read it, Aria.” He walked away and I followed.
“And you’re still mad? George, please. I’m sorry. And I really shouldn’t have to be. It’s not my fault I’m not in love with you.” Tears filled my eyes. “Maybe we shouldn’t be friends anymore if this is what it’s gonna be like.”
He looked into my eyes in shock. “You don’t want to be friends?”
“I do, George, but you’re always mad at me. I just want you to be happy that I’m happy but you can’t push your feelings aside.” His face saddened and I touched it. “It’s not forever George. Just for now. Just until you can handle me being with Ben.” I pulled out my wand. “So, I’m gonna go home. Bye George.” I apparated out of his room and into mine.
I spent the rest of the day organizing my books just to get my mind off George. I hated that I told him that we weren’t going to be friends for a while. I just felt it was for the best for right now. Around eight, Ben came over and we sat in the sitting room to watch a movie. He looked at me curiously and asked, “Is everything ok?”
I shook my head. “No. George and I are taking a break from being friends.” I answered.
He rubbed my arm. “Is it because of him being love with you?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I just think it’s the best for now.”
“But you hate it.”
“Yeah.” I looked into his brown eyes. “I’m tired.”
“Well, I’ll go and you can go to bed.” He kissed my head and I grabbed his hand.
“No. Come up with me.” I grinned and we went up to my room.
