Chapter Twelve: Witch Of The Night
--
Not long ago, I had suggested that we move into my actual bedroom where there is more room for us to sit and where I was more certain the walls were soundproof.
I really liked Evelyn. Before we had moved rooms I learnt quite a bit about her and so had Alexander, who told me he didn't mind being called Xander.
Evelyn was born and lived in Aeralin all her life, she was turned many years ago unexpectedly by a stranger. She had lived for over 50 years yet, looked the age of 21. She told me much more about herself like the fact she had once been scarily addicted to blood and couldn't stop herself from killing.
"Let's hope no one suspects that Alaric is notifying you about each of the stages," Alexander says, "but despite my worries, we don't have much time to help you prepare for the first stage as it begins very soon apparently-"
"Don't worry, I am certain no one will suspect that Alaric has been telling me what the stages are and also he has already told me how to get through the first stage. I just have to do the exact opposite of what I'd do to get past the obstacles."
Evelyn sighed whilst standing up, "thank the Lord your brother had a part in organising the stages, but, even though you are in a pretty good position, I think you should get some sleep."
I nodded in agreement even though I wasn't tired. It was only 5:00 in the day, who was tired at this time? "Yeah, okay. I'll see you two later then."
When I stood up, I hugged Evelyn goodbye and as I released her I was suddenly pulled into Xander by my waist, "you have no need to worry about this competition. I have your back."
The distance between our faces was almost non-existent. For a second, I completely zoned out as I eyed Xander's lips hungrily. I don't know why I was doing it but, I stopped when I saw he lightly laughed whilst biting his bottom lip.
Alexander slid his hand from my cheek to the back of my head and pulled me in.
The voice in my head was screaming excitedly the closer Xander came to my face but, soon stopped when his lips came into contact with my cheek.
Although I was frustrated that his lips didn't collide with mine, I still couldn't help but let the heat crawl up my neck, "good luck princess,"
I couldn't speak, I was too busy in some lovestruck state that wouldn't let me quit touching the flushed cheek he had kissed.
Xander winked at me before leaving with Evelyn who glanced at me with a questioning look that screamed, what is going on between you two?
I pursed my lips, sheepishly smiled and innocently shrugged.
Once the door shut behind them, I gasped out the gust of air I had no idea I had been holding.
Two kisses on the cheek, from two good-looking boys, on the same day. What a bonus!
Now, what do I do? Sit here and fantasise about Alexander?
I shake my head. No no, no, I need to get Alexander out my head, he is a distraction and will end up distracting me from getting on with my mission to find and get revenge on the person who killed my parents.
I was definitely not going to sleep yet either, it was too early for me.
Maybe I could go speak to Princess Cathryn or find my ladies that I can't seem to keep in my sight ever. They could be in danger right now whilst I am stood here drooling over a boy who is out of my league.
