IMPRESS.Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Mad King.
---
"Jeez, you weren't kidding. The girl is a living goddess," was the first thing I heard as soon as the sack over my head was pulled off and my hands were untied.
I coughed out and tried to recover from the suffocation of the sack and lack of breath I had under it.
"No wonder he keeps talking on and on about her," another female trailed off, amusement laced in her voice. My attention was caught as I lifted my head and glanced up around at my surroundings.
My shoulders relaxed although they weren't that tense before when I found Blake and Kai standing there in front of me with their muscular arms folded over their chest. My eyes then wandered off to the two (very pretty) young women casually stood on the left side of the room, admiring my appearance.
I furrowed my eyebrows and tilted my head confusedly.
Ok... Why am I here and where is Preston?
"She looks confused," Kai observed.
Blake agreed, "she still looks good though."
"True," the girls answered in unison and I slowly shook my head trying to register what on the myth of earth I was doing here.
I can barely remember what happened to me, had Blake and Kai abducted me from the castle... And if so, why?
"Yeah uhm- I'm really lost- Blake, Kai... Where are we? And why exactly did you kidnap and bring me here?"
There was snickering from the four before they looked at each other, passing on the same mental message it seemed, "she's funny too, wow, our brother has taste."
I pursed my lips frowning slightly. I don't know what part of what I said was funny... And wait a second, did one of the girls just use the term 'brother' when referring to Preston?
So, Preston has sisters? Or is it a traditional demon thing to address each other or your closest companions as your siblings?
"Brother?" I queried.
One of the girls with granite hair and dark blue tips chortled and gracefully put her hand to her mouth to suppress her laughter, "not biologically but Shadowland customs. If you've known someone since birth, you refer to them as family."
I pouted, nodding at the reasonable explanation for the shared tradition. Okay, that made sense I guess. Kai and Blake weren't Preston's biological brothers yet Preston still referred to them as blood brothers, because of Shadowland customs. Ahh okay.
"So we are in your homeland right now?" I asked and they all hummed a yes.
Blake finally spoke for the first time, "we apologise that our kidnapping was a bit abrupt but we could use your help."
Blue tips nodded vigorously, "yeah we really need you. Prestons a little-"
"-angry," Kai made the size of a pea with his fingers to emphasise on the word little spoken by blue tips.
Preston is angry... Why would he be- I hope he's okay. But, I am sorry how am I supposed to cheer a demon up. I have never done it before, I don't think I have anyway.
"What's wrong with him?" I stood up all so very fast, eager to know what had possibly made Preston out of all people angry. I knew people said he was a bad person but I never actually understood that.
The way I was standing was highly defensive that I most likely had a killer glint in my eyes because as my fists balled at my sides I could feel the darkness rising up inside of me.
