Chapter Thirty-Nine: Stage Two, Anger.

--

He allowed his to eyes to wander over me like I was the most artistic thing in this room whilst I channelled the ability I was best at controlling.

I felt the flames flaring up in my eyes and sheepishly smiled when Preston's eyes lit up in amazement as he stepped closer for a better view.

"Whatever you do," my hands were clasped together ready to be parted, "don't move," I warned a fascinated Preston who thoughtlessly nodded.

I breathed out, separated my hands and watched as a small flame appeared and danced in the air between my palms.

Glancing up at Preston, his hazel eyes were still completely widened in mesmerisation, "make it grow," Preston ordered and I warmly smiled at how astonished he was.

I did as he said and focused hard on building the orange flame into a fierce blaze of fire.

Sparks flew as the fire burned above my palms. My necklace had completely transformed purple at the usage of my ability and I could feel the Nixon playing a major role in helping me control my power.

When I was afraid Preston was leaning too close to the fire, I wanted to close my fists and extinguish the fire, however, he grabs my wrists and stops me from doing so.

"Your abilities are a part you Natalya, don't be afraid to use them, it just adds to the long list of how beautiful you are," he circled my body standing behind me and the fire that reflected in our eyes.

I had no idea what he was doing but when I felt his chin touch my shoulder and lips brush against my skin, an unexplainable adrenaline spiralled throughout my body...

And when he began to nibble at my ear and use his other hand to hold my hair in his fist, I pleasurably shut my eyes and let the fireball blaze in the air.

I squeaked when he nipped at my ear aggressively, but when he apologised with a kiss to my jawline a smile crept back onto my face.

You know, I would have pushed him away if I didn't know the true colours of Zac and all the rest of them vampires who stood, watched and witnessed me drown.

The way the witches described the Shadow Kingdom as this evil place with immoral rules and a dangerous ruler, made Preston sound like the worst man alive but, no, he was surprisingly lovely.

I mean I saw him bite into a black heart but I don't know, I guess you could say I am attracted to the mad ones. That or anyone I meet in my life just always happens to be a psycho.

That's why I can't afford to trust. But, because of the witches, I am making Preston an exception.

"Watch what I can do," Preston breathed against my neck, his voice steady and deep, extremely sexy transmitting to my ears.

My heart was racing at the lack of distance between myself and King Preston and my breathing increased.

Preston's arm reached over my shoulder and my heart almost stopped beating when he suddenly jerked his hand into the fire.

I couldn't scream and that's because I was too busy panicking instead, "what are you doing?! Oh my God, are you okay!? Is your han-" "Wait-"

Extinguishing the fire instantly, I yanked Preston's hand to my chest and frantically rubbed it, only until I actually saw that his hand was unharmed and perfectly fine.
