Chapter Seventy-One: The Prophecy
PART 3.
-----
Today marked the day that Zachary Beaumont got what he deserved. It was the day he, the Prince of Asten, had pushed me to do what all knew was the unspeakable.
Thou shall not lay a hand on royal blood or he/she will be severely punished.
Now, let me emphasise this law in words you may understand a little more.
It is forbidden to bring harm upon any member of the royal family and if this law is to be broken, you will be sentenced to death...
And only death.
Breaking out of the daze I had fallen into, I gasped out after realising what I'd done and widened my eyes, shocked at my own impulsive actions. My hands flew to my mouth ever-so-quickly and my softened eyes apologetically stared back at the prince, whose face was yet to lift from the position my palm had left it in.
Oh in God's name, what have I done? Possibly jeopardised my future... Yes, very likely.
Imagine if my abilities had triggered out of anger instead... I would have killed the prince of Asten, my brother and possibly every single other soul rested in this inn. I could only thank Preston for his lessons on controlling my abilities prior to this trip.
Both my heart and pulse were racing at the speed of light as I nervously flickered my eyes at my brother who's jaw had fallen to the ground. Derek's alarmed reaction caught my eye next and it exactly mirrored Chris and Xavier's surprised expressions.
My fingers started to tremble the more anxious I grew, waiting for Zac who remained silent to respond. He was unmoving from his state and everyone and anyone knew what that meant.
His anger was silently building up, his temper was slowly boiling within and little time was left until he would explode like a ticking time bomb.
With my hands clasped over my mouth, I sheepishly turned my head to Cassandra for help to ease the tension but she too was clueless on what to do in this circumstance and shrugged helplessly.
So I staggered back turning to the two people I knew I could trust most right now.
Harrison and Preston.
They were as gob-smacked as everyone else, but something was different. Preston was holding his mouth in a way that looked like he was trying his hardest to suppress an eruption of laughter. On the other hand, Harrison was gob-smacked but curious to see what Zac's reaction would be, narrowing his eyes at the prince as if assessing him.
