[Reminder: you have to be patient with this story, I like to create the world before all the drama kicks in so if you don't enjoy stories like that then GOODBYE, and you also have to be patient with the main character. She might be annoying right now but that is what character development is about!]

Chapter Eighteen: The Deadliest Element.

--

"I- I can't believe you can control fire, that is the deadliest element out of them all Natalya, I told you you'd get it but, now you have to be careful. You can't just use it out in the open..." Alaric informed me as we came to a stop outside the door to the dungeons.

I rolled my eyes and gently punched Alaric on the arm, "you need to put more trust in me, I won't use my ability stupidly. Now lead me to this Oberyn guy."

After Alaric opened the door to the dungeons I followed him past the endless cells locked up with unfortunate people who had gotten it bad.

The lifeless eyes that locked on me as I walked at my brother's side were curious, wondering who I was and why I was with Alaric. They probably thought I was his girlfriend, ew.

"Next person to look at my sister will regret their next breath," Alaric threateningly said aloud and immediately all the eyes that had been on me diverted elsewhere.

Alaric smiled like he had achieved something great by doing this and I just shook my head at him in disbelief just as we reached a cell which was the most protected of them all.

Unlike the other built-in prison chambers cells which were mostly just bars, this one we had approached was made out of stone with only bars for the cell door.

"This is it..." Alaric turned around to me with a concerned face, "don't do or say anything you'll regret. He is in a bad condition so I don't think he will make an attempt to escape but if he does he won't get far. I'll be standing just outside the dungeon door if you need me for anything. Don't forget to lock it..."

Alaric placed the key in my palm before speeding off out of the dungeons.

I can't believe he actually left me with the key. He must be really trying to make an effort to trust me, aww.

Breathing in and out I got myself ready as I unlocked the cell door and after listening to the horrible sound of metal scraping against each other... I stepped in.

I locked the cell door behind and when I turned around, my guilt levels went out the roof. Like what I saw should never have to be seen by anyone. I had to cover my mouth and clutch my stomach because I felt ill as soon as I saw him.

I am finding it hard to add up whether it was the prince, Alaric, Derek, Alexander, the King, some other guards or everyone's work that left this man in a pool of his own blood and urine.

What I was seeing was a man who looked to be in his late 20s, had silver, greyish white hair which was combed over his head. The man, however, although good-looking he had cuts from head to toe. He had a scar across his face which looked quite cool actually.

The rest of Oberyn's cuts weren't healing and they were ugly. Most of them were still fresh and dripping with blood, making me question if this man was a vampire or not.

He had been tortured too many times and this left me wondering why he wasn't dead yet?

He looked very vulnerable wearing nothing but only torn, stained white shorts.

Oberyn's had his legs pulled to his chest and cradled himself with his head hung low. I could see whip marks on his back and so many burns on his legs.
