Rythian
I felt bipolar. The monster inside of me said to run, but the side that Zoey had made for me said to help Duncan. However, there was no way I could go back, not now. It had been a couple days since I had left, but I was still thinking about it. I tried to push all of it out of my mind, but Zoey was showing inside of me.
What would Zoey have done? I thought as I walked along the edge of the forest not far from Sick Bay. I guessed she would have… I didn’t know. Now, I wished I had helped him. He had saved my life, I owed him one. But now, I would owe him one forever and never pay it back to him.
Our Sick Bay Camp was in my sights. Well, I shouldn’t even call it Sick Bay. It was Cabertown now, the new mayor, Ravs, had obviously been doing a good job, for the city was still in perfect shape.
I entered my base and called, “Zoey!” but no one answered. Then, I moved around the camp, looking for the technomage. Zoey was nowhere to be found, neither was Teep. Maybe they had gone into town. With that, I left the camp the same way I came in.
Cabertown seemed the same as always. Although I hadn’t known it for long, the town looked only slightly different from the Sick Bay I knew all too well.
“Hey, Rythian.” Ravs said as I passed him walking by his home. I was so focused on Zoey I didn’t even realize anyone was there.
I stopped and turned to him, running my fingers through my hair. “Hey, Ravs. Have you seen Zoey anywhere?”
He paused to ponder the question. He finally spoke, “Uh, well she said she was leaving to go find you. She talked about a place… uh… like… Sjin Co?”
“SipsCo? Oh, god. I have to go.”
Ravs tilted his head as I ran back to camp.
Sjin
Duncan and I had been walking for ages, a little more than two days. The blonde had said we were going to Rythian’s camp in Sick Bay. I wasn’t quite sure what ‘Sick Bay’ was, but I trusted him to take me there.
“How much farther is this ‘Sick Bay’?” I made air quotes as I said it.
“Not far. At least, I believe so.” Duncan estimated, not looking up from the ground.
We spoke little after that. The only thing that was said was an “almost there” from my partner, which was when we entered the desert. About thirty minutes later, a little village was in my sights; Sick Bay. Duncan stopped as I continued walking.
“Hold on.” He said, gesturing for me to come back over to him.
“What?” I asked as I reached his side.
“We have to make a plan. How are we gonna approach this?”
“Let’s start as his camp, then go to the town if he’s not there.”
“Really, I was just gonna set fire to everything else, then the camp.” The blonde said with a hint of sarcasm.
“I don’t hear you coming up with any better ideas!”
“I’m still thinking!” We began yelling.
“And you couldn’t think about that in all of the silence on the way?”
“I didn’t think of it until now! Why didn’t you?”
I just sighed heavily and crossed my arms.
“Now come on. We need to go soon, before night comes.”
Duncan and I conversed for a few minutes, then came up with the perfect plan.
