Good, now he’s out of the way. I told myself as I looked at the scientist’s unconscious body. Now, all I had to do was prepare myself in case he was still alive.
I bent down to him, picking him up by his left arm, which laid limp over my shoulder as I carried him out of the cell.
We entered another room, which was deeper into the chamber than the cell. Inside this room was a steel table, and it resembled a hospital room. I had made this room for one reason; when everything went south, and it certainly was.
I hoisted Duncan up onto the table, and then just adjusted his position to be sure that the restraints would go on properly. On the east wall of the room, there was a lever, which I went over and pulled. A mechanical sound could be heard; the sound of the metal cuffs on the table rising. I turned my head to look, just in time to hear the click of everything snapping into place.
I moved back over to the metal bed, and pulled on each restraint. First, I pulled on the three restraints on his left arm. One over his palm, one on his lower arm, and one on his upper arm. Next, the cuffs on his right arm were checked. The other places I checked were his leg restraints, which were like his arm restraints; one over his ankle, one over his shin, and the last over his thigh. There was only one last set of holds I had to check; the ones over his midsection. One was over his lower abdomen, another over his rib cage, and the last went on his chest.
I stepped back from my work, proud that everything worked. When I actually got looking at the scientist himself, I realized how much pain I had really caused to him.
Lalna housed a huge bruise on his left cheek, which was probably about two inches diameter. Along with that, there was a long gash from the bridge of his nose, across his left cheek, and then to his neck. I didn’t feel sorry for him, because he had done so much more to me in the past.
I turned away from him and walked to the counter. My hand touched a cloth, which I was going to use to make sure the scientist wouldn’t be able to scream if he woke up. The black, cotton cloth ran through my fingers as I strode back over to where the body of the unconscious man laid. I lifted the scientist’s head slowly with my left hand, and put the cloth under it with my right. Once I had put the man’s head back down, I opened his mouth for him and put the cotton through it and over to his right cheek, wear I tied it into itself.
When all was done, I looked at the scientist and said only five words. “This is what you deserve.” Then, I turned around and faced the door, which I then walked to. The iron handle touched my hand, giving me a chill up my spine as I touched it. I pulled it down and tugged the steel door open.
Once on the outside, I locked the four locks, which would ensure that Duncan could not escape, even if he got through the bonds, which was the most unlikely thing in the world without tools. My footsteps could be heard echoing down the hallway, and as I turned the corner, Lalna’s old holding chamber could be spotted. I walked right passed it, and on to the final hallway. At the end, I flicked the light switch off and watched every light in the underground lair go off.
Rythian
“Zoey?” I called, not sure if she would hear me.
A soft sob came from the courtyard.
I was in the storage room, but there was a balcony I could look over. “Zoey? Are you alright?”
“Ryth? Would you come here?” I could barely hear her, but I caught every word.
It scared me to hear her crying, so I ran to the teleporter to bring myself to the second floor, then to the first. I despised those blue boxes, but I needed to get to my apprentice.
