Rythian
By the time I woke up, it was nine-thirty. Zoey’s voice rang through the castle, sounding as if she was yelling at someone. In curiosity, I got up and made my way downstairs, smelling science all over the building.
How have I put up with this…? I shuddered. Ugh, science…
“Ah,” my apprentice was startled by my presence. “Good morning!”
I could sense something was wrong when I looked at the sly expression on her face. “Is everything alright?”
“Oh, yeah. Of course,” she still sounded skittish.
I raised my right eyebrow. “Really, Zoey?”
The redhead bit her lip. She paused for a few moments before bursting out in truth. “Leah left to go find Duncan,” her voice rendered quickly. “She wouldn’t let me stop her, and I tried, honest!”
I could sense she was going to say more, so I didn’t intervene on her confession, almost sure she might go into answering other questions that had nothing to do with Leah.
“Sh-she… never listens to me anymore. I told her not to go to find him the first time, but she didn’t understand I was just trying to help!”
Of course, she kept going on about everything, and I was attentive with it all. Before she could finish, however, I grabbed her hand and pulled her from the courtyard and out the main doorway.
“No one seems to listen to me! The whole time we’ve been here, I’ve been giving thoughtful advice and no one takes it…”
I led her to the river and across the rocks to the other side.
“And then there was the time Duncan wanted to go see Sjin, and now what? No one knows where he is! I warned him…”
We went into the forest beyond and finally met another land of plains. After more and more of her rant, which I stayed the single audience member to, our duo met the sea. I beckoned for her to follow me along the shore, which she did with tears streaming down her pale face.
“And…” I could feel that something occurred to her. We must have walked for miles before she finally said what was really on her mind. “…Teep…”
“What?” I finally spoke for the first time in hours.
“Teep,” she flicked her head to look at me. “We forgot him…”
“Oh, Christ,” I was able to realize Zoey’s train of thought. Where had we left him? “Your grave! Duncan and I buried you and… he was there when we left!”
“Where did you bury me?”
“Blackrock,” I murmured, still meeting her gaze. After speaking, I began running to a new destination: Blackrock Crater.
Leah
Then, I asked myself, “Is this really real?” It had seemed so long since I had seen my Lalna, and now that he was standing before me, that was the only thing to think.
“Leah?” he asked, a stunned expression overtaking his visage.
“Lalna,” my question was now satisfied by the sound of his voice and my eyes laying on his presence. In a second, it didn’t matter whether this was just a dream or not, I ran to him and wrapped my arms around him and started to cry.
He felt my shakes, and returned the hug. Upon that gesture, I buried my head in his chest, the warmth overtaking me. “I missed you,” I exclaimed, my muffled voice carrying just to his own ears.
