Leah
I woke up with an abrupt start as I connected my dream to real life. The dream reminded me of who Sjin was, and it told me that Lalna couldn’t stay there any longer, even after three days had already passed.
“Zoey.” I whispered, walking over to shake her awake.
She made a few grumbling sounds, “Hmm?”
“We have to go find Duncan.” I ordered.
My sister sat up and turned to put her legs over the edge of the bed. “What are you talking about?”
“I just remembered who Sjin is.”
“Okay? Is there a problem?” Zoey rubbed the night from her eyes and stood up to meet my gaze.
“Zoey, Duncan’s been gone for three days. Sjin is the reason I died in the first place!”
“Wait, Sjin killed you?” She ran her hands through her hair.
“Yeah. Duncan shouldn’t be there, he will get hurt!”
“Leah, listen to me.” The redhead put her hand on my shoulder. “I understand your concern, but you can’t worry about him like that! I’ve known him for years, he knows what he’s doing!”
“If you won’t come with me, I’ll do it myself!”
“I’m not helping you, and I won’t let you go! If Sjin killed you, then he’ll probably do it all over again. You’ll just need to hope for the best. I’m sure he’ll be fine!”
Rythian
The world seemed like a large ball of blurry as I opened my eyes. Nothing hurt, but I knew it would in a few minutes. I was relieved to see the wooden floor and stone walls of Duncan’s castle, which meant Sjin hadn’t taken me away.
I stood up from the floor, but soon fell onto Lalna’s bed from the dizziness. Coughs escaped me, but the world slowly came into focus. Attempting to stand again, I gripped my belt.
“Zoey!” I called, working my vocals to be sure the technomage would hear me. I continued to call for her, until I entered the courtyard.
“Rythian? Are you okay?” Zoey’s voice rang from behind me, and I turned to see her. She stood there, frozen in fear. “What happened to you?”
Zoey
My shock showed as I looked at the mage, who looked as if he had been attacked. His usually bright purple eyes were now dull, what they looked like when he was in pain.
“Sjin.”
That was the only word I needed to know. “Leah!” I called, still staring into the mage’s eyes. I looked down to see many deep wounds.
Leah soon came running into the room, gasping as she saw the shape Rythian was in. “Oh my gosh! What happened to you?”
“Sjin.” He repeated.
“I told you! We should have gone after him!” Leah was proud of herself.
“When did this happen?” I was still worried about Rythian’s heath.
“Late last night.” He answered.
“Did you see him leave?” I inquired.
“No, I was knocked out before that.”
“Did he hit you?”
“No, it was some sort of needle he used.”
“He tranquilized you?” Leah intervened.
