Rythian
“Yo-your Highness?” the stunned expression on my face that introduced my question caused her to smile.
“Hello, Enderborn,” she replied, emphasizing our strong grudge through my title.
I was still flabbergasted. “B-b-but, I killed you!”
“Don’t get too proud of yourself.” The Ender Dragon, now transformed into a beautiful, young maiden, strode closer to me and ran her human-like hand along my jawbone. “You only think you defeated me.” She then produced a low, evil laugh. “Think again.”
My mind was flooded with questions: “how are you still here?” I watched her look at her nails, which appeared flawless from my side-view angle. “I was there when you blew into thousands of shards!”
She shook her head and broke another smile. “It only takes but one shard to make the Queen whole again.” The woman then walked around to my blind side as she kept her fingertips running against my skin. I shuddered at the gesture. “Now, Enderborn, I have a question for you: how did you, of all Endermen, manage to receive a majority of your DNA from a human?”
“My name is Rythian,” I insisted.
“Mmm, nope. That won’t due. You don’t look like a ‘Rythian’ to me.” She peeked around to my face again and checked me from head to toe.
I let it go, knowing arguing would only cause her to go mad.
“Are you going to answer my question?” she asked persistently.
“I don’t know how I possess the DNA of a human. It is as much of a mystery to me as it is to you.”
“Think about it. Haven’t you a destiny? Does your destiny require you to have human feet, opposable thumbs, a highly evolved brain, or a four-chambered heart?”
“I-I really don’t know,” I said.
“You’re special. Why?” She didn’t appear to be laying off.
The woman could answer her own question, but I gave her my honest reply without a purposeful sass in my tone. “I have the DNA of a human,” I replied, frustrated that we had to revisit this concept again.
“Oh, duh,” she exclaimed, beating the ball of her hand against her forehead and showing a sarcastic look of being dumbfounded. “I was talking about your little relationship.”
It was miraculous that I knew exactly what she meant. “Zoey? She’s just my apprentice, nothing more.”
The woman sighed while rolling her eyes. “Enderborn, there is nothing and no one to hide from here. You can tell me your secrets. I’m part of your family, after all.”
“Right,” I agreed sarcastically. “The family member I wish I never had.”
“Thanks to me, you’re alive!”
We began our verbal match: “Now I don’t need you anymore! Hence why I killed you!”
“Oh, that seems to have worked well for you, hasn’t it?”
I yanked my sword from off my belt and, without hesitation, shoved it right through the center of her chest. “I’ll make it work!”
The dragon stopped and stared at me for several seconds with a grimace smile spreading across her clean face. After those moments, she spoke: “I knew you weren’t worth my valiant efforts. I warned your parents that you were just a waste. Lucky you are to have caring enough parents to keep from tossing you into the bottomless pit of the End!”
