Duncan

  “Leah?! As in… Leah Proasheck?”

  “Yeah, that’s me.”

“Oh my gosh…” The scientist covered his mouth with his hand, stumbling forward slightly.

“Lalna…” She ran up to me, embracing me. I returned it without hesitation, picking her up and spinning in circles.

“How did you come back?” I asked, baffled.

She didn’t answer, because she was already crying so hard with joy.

I closed my eyes and let a few tears fall. My hand ran through her blood red hair, something I hadn’t done in about a decade. It felt so different to see her, because there hadn’t been a day in my life I hadn’t thought about her since her death.

Once I started getting dizzy from spinning so much, I set her down on the ground, but didn’t let go.

“I missed you so much.” I commented.

“I missed more than you can imagine.” She choked.

I opened my eyes as she said that. “Really? You missed me?” I hadn’t had anyone tell me that, ever.

  “Of course I did! Why wouldn’t I?”

“No reason…” I trailed off, smiling.

She pulled back, then locked eyes with me. “You know, I didn’t recognize you at first. You’ve changed a lot.”

“And you haven’t changed a bit.” I tapped her on the nose with index finger, and widened my smile.

She began blushing, then looked off the side. “Oh, I don’t think so.” As she looked up slightly, she noticed Rythian, who had been standing in the corner the entire time. “And who is this?”

“Oh, that’s… Rythian…” I let a disgusted tone slip out, as I thought harder about my dislike towards him.

  “Hi, I’m Leah.”

“Rythian.” He repeated my earlier introduction.

  “Nice to meet you!”

I rolled my eyes, I wished she wasn’t so enthusiastic about everything. She sounded so happy all the time, which was nice, but not when it’s to your worst enemy.

She walked over to him, extending her hand to greet him in a friendly handshake. “I think I’ve heard of you before, but it’s been a while.” Leah giggled, then clasped her hands behind her back.

“Sorry, but I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of you before, but I heard you are related to Zoey.”

“Oh, yeah. She’s my sister. I love her to death, that girl. Oh, right! Zoey, come here!”

“Zoey?” Rythian asked, looking towards the door.

“Rythian?” Zoey’s voice returned as she walked through the door.

He nearly collapsed on the ground as her saw her. He stumbled backwards, then slowly brought his arms up, opening himself up to her.

The redhead ran into them, clearly ecstatic to see her mage.

“How did you…” He stuttered, beginning to cry tears of joy.

“A miracle, just a miracle!” She answered, starting to cry with him.

They didn’t speak for another few minutes, and I stood, watching the happiness they now shared. Leah came back over to me.

“It really is a miracle we came back. I don’t know what to feel right now.”

“I’m so happy to see you, if I didn’t say that already.”

“Me too, it’s about time for us to catch up. You’ve been busy, eh?” She laughed, grabbing my hand.

Sips

“Sjin? What are you doing back?” It had been weeks since I had seen him, but somehow, here he was.

“I came to say I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have left. SipsCo is my priority.”

“Thank you. That’s just what I wanted to here.” I said.

“I just have one more thing I must do.”

“And what is that?” I was starting to get suspicious again.

  “Get back to work.”

  I smiled. “That’s the Sjin I know.”
